I have been racking my brains trying to get answers in regards to a 1st gen hub to hub width. I have figured with standard drum hubs it is 59",and with factory discs 60". I have ATS spindles and also measure 60"

Anyway without getting into a debate if one or the other narrows or widens the track I have found ECI (Look in Street Rodder) sells narrower hubs that will bring a disc brake equipped 1st gen down to 58" without using any narrow arms. I would have to guess this would be the less intrusive as far as geometry changes go.

If you are stuck with a wheel choice as I was that 1" or 2" makes a big difference.

Just a FYI

I have measured the setback of a drum and disc hub to the spindle and find only 3/4" difference between drum and disc track widths. If you change your hub offset, what are you going to do about your brake caliper alignment with the rotor?

I made my own but they also sell a kit.

The width is different according to who you talk to. I can only tell you what mine measured.

Speedtech also sells the aluminum hubs in the factory drum 2 7/16- 2 9/16 off the top of my head.

By the way the ATS spindle is nice piece if you haven't already bought rims for the drum set up.

What kind of backspacing will you be able to use? I also have been looking at this for an upgrade to disks but don't want to push the wheels out any farther then I have to. I know CPP makes a kit that does not change the track width but what else are my options?

Drum hub is 9/16" in from disc hub.

David I use your site for reference all the time. I have ATS spindles and gained hub to hub and was going crazy trying to find difference. ATS says they do not add any width to either drum or disc car??? Not sure how that is possible and not by my measurements. I have tight set up as I am using clip on Street Rod.

The ECI kit uses there own hub which is even narrower than the factory drum hub. 58" vs 59"drum or 60"disc Actually the whole kit is really good deal as you get 12.5 rotors and the narrower hub all for I think under $600.00. Not bad if someone is doing budget build. There are tons of pads for those GM calipers.

Thanks
