Has anyone else seen these bodies up close or did I just see a bad one?

They are not built any better than stock, and are not impressive at all.

Go here: http://www.musclecarmetal.com/refurb.htm
...way better quality for 30% less cost (he will sell them for less than the price on his site). And it is a real shell with a vaild VIN. Or he can use your shell. Tony did my shell and I am very happy with it.
I have also heard good things about: www.mikescustomcars.com. Forum member Motown454 has his car there now (Wayne in the projects section of the website).
I have not heard good things about the Dynacorn shells regarding welds and alignment.

Well after seeing a car get rebuilt with a dynacorn body I can tell you that the construction IS much better than you think.
See the process is exactly the same as the factory so the results are similar to factory NOT some perfectionist assembling a bunch of parts.
The car inquestion was a show car and got stolen/vandalized/burnt and dumped while on fire into a strip pit. I have never seen a car WARPED in the middle till now.
Well according to his insurance, and apprasier it will be titled as a rebuilt classic.
I am not sure how other states do it but this car will be titled as a 69.
They are reusing the firewall, well about 80 percent of it and the cowl where the vin tag is.
Talk about a major pain to me but to replace his car they would spend a lot more.
Luckily his dog house and front sub is good to go and the rearend is going to be a new 12 bolt.
He had all NOS glass waiting to go into his car so thats going in and his paint was still orginal so he has extra to get it right.
Basicly the roof, floors quarters and rear section are Dynacorn.
The body man was impressed with the quality and he said the metal is MUCH better than the old stuff.
The 427 small block chevy is back to me for a freshen up as we think they spun a rod and he has a new TKO to replace a MELTED T56.
OH well to each thier own.

Lee, This is great news. The first positive report anyone has heard. Who is doing this work? I may be interested in talking to them a bit more.

To me I see the dynacorn bodys as a good starting piont if you want that 69 camaro look but without a vin. I still dont get how they title them

How do you title the body? Simple, get a VIN off a junk Camaro that has a title, rivet in place and your done.
Maybe not legal but that's how its done!

I am having Mikes custom cars do my car, in South Carolina the DMV has him restamp the numbers in a different size with MCC next to it and it is the same vin and called a reskin. You get your old numbers and the vin tag stays intact. He also adds an extra hidden number he knows where it is incase it gets stolen you have it . I went to see one of his car he did in N.Y. and the fit was excelent as he reassembles the car he sands off all the original primer and uses weld thru epoxy primer, then undercoats all panels. he also seam seals everthing as its going back together.when I went to his shop it was imaculent he's very particular about his work. Very honest people when I was there I droped a 20 dollar bill. I had no idea, we went to lunch and his wife called to tell him I droped it and to give me the money from his . I had no idea i droped it, I was already impressed and that made me feel even better . Sorry I made this so long but his work and their honesty deserve it Wayne

As far as get the car registered, that depends on where you live.
In MO. you take the reciepts to the DMV and present the car as a '69 Camaro, they will then issue you a title as a '69 Camaro. Easy as that. If you need a VIN on the vehicle, you can just have a new one stamped, or even a jewler can engrave a piece of metal to be put on the car.
