They had the SEMA week Gambler Mustang on tonight...pretty good show and probably the only '70 I ever liked.

The sweetest part is that I saw our very own jp and Brian Schein in the crowd...hey Brian Courtney says hi!! LOL :)

I think the "old man" was nearly moved to tears and he appeared to be a really nice guy. What a great son he had to take all of that heat for a week deceiving his dad.

I was talking to the guy from BFG while he was carving out the tiers and he was telling me that once they reveled the car to the owner they were going to swap out the custom tires for a regular set. He said there was too much liability involved with giving him the car with those tires on it because they were not DOT approved. The tires were really cool they were totally blank slicks they didn’t have any thing on them name, manufacture, size nothing. He did say that were going to give the tires to the owner and he could do what ever he wanted with them. I dough they would get much mileage anyway they were so soft he was carving through those things like butter.

The car looked pretty good in person they missed a big dent more like a wave in the bottom of the drives door. It also was not running well when they reveled it to the owner, they dint even set the timing. I just whish I could get some of that crew over to my house even if was to just help me clean up my garage. It was unbelievable that place was a total disaster about 30 minutes before they gave the car back and a team of people swarmed across the shop it was spotless in less than 15 minutes.

When I saw them cutting the tires I was thinking "man, those look soft... no way I'd be driving on those things!"

Good looking car! I do question how good a job they can really do when they only take 7 days to do something like that... on TV they don't show you certain things... but if you're looking you can catch them.

For example... when they took the car back to paint (after primed) you could see for a split second that they had scratched the primer all to hell on one side. Also, on the engine not running well... when the owner fired it up for the first time... I did hear a couple of really slow cranks before it finally turned over.

Those tires are "car show" tires. If you ever ruined one do you suppose they would carve you out a new one to match?...lol :drive:

I was at SEMA and hung around after the show closed on Friday at the Overhaulin booth. Nobody was around and they moved the barracades so I got to get a good look at the car. I saw the owner and went and congradulated him. He was still in a haze, super nice guy.

No matter what anyone say it was done in seven days not three years. Thats amazing in itself that they got the body and paint done. I have seen the overhauling chevelle and its straight as glass and nor orange peel or sanding marks. The stance is perfect. The interior and body fit is perfect. Looks like it took three years instead of 1 week.

That was one of the best shows so far, and I have really liked a few. I am not a Ford fan, but do like some older 'Stangs, but not the 70's until now. That is a sweet car. Somebody should have checked the owner for a pulse. Nice guy yes, but damn, he's as reactive as a piece of cardboard. The whole time they had his car he wasn't even pissed. I would have been F'in this, F'in that the whole time. Seems like he didn't even know what Overhaulin' was when Foose congratulated him outside. I think they should have done the reveal by taking him through/into the "loading dock" right in front of the crowd if possible. I was surprised when Foose sprung it on him that fast.

The paint wasn't as nice as it could have been because the paint/body guys bailed on the third day. It was a mad scramble to have others from the team, and even some who worked on the livestrong car and were in Vegas for the show, finish the work. The tires were actually the same compound as your typical comps, but the carving tools were heated, kind of like a hot knife, so they glide pretty easily through. I was told that they would work fine for the street, but would be really loud because of the tread pattern. If you had to put a price on the tires, it would probably be in the same neighborhood as the one off wheels, but getting BFG to cut them for you would require some serious pull. The owner of the car was a retired teacher who worked in his church cafeteria. When they told him, he almost passed out. As he walked onto the set, his son was pretty much holding him up. Very nice and grateful guy, couldn't have happened to a nicer person. I just hope junior keeps his hands off of it. He insisted to Chip that the AN fittings which showed from the rear @ the sump be left red/blue. "It looks like a race car" he says "I'll just take that black paint off later". He lost the battle and the lines stayed black.

It was cool to see the show after being there live. I only wish I had more time to watch the build. It was hard to stay there and watch when all that cool stuff was out there to look at. The guy they did the car for was an inspiration. He was so excited and in disbelief. They couldnt have picked a better guy to build the car for.

Back in my street racing days we grooved some slicks to pass them off as street tires but they weren't near as pretty as those BFG's.

jp, it airs again Dec. 26 @ 4pm ET. Towards the end of the show they show the audiance a couple times and you are standing right behind Brian...it goes by pretty quickly, but since I TiVoed it I was able to run it in slow motion and make out your mugs....

denny, use the "Print Screen" or (print scrn) button on your keyboard to copy webpages that wont let you right click. then crop the stuff off the image you dont want.

Thanks, I don't like the color so much in that pic, maybe lighting. I like the more charcoal look it has in some of the other pics, obviously I'll have to modify the color mix slightly.

I believe the color is a 2003 Jaguar. It looks pretty nice in person, but it has some red pearl that sometimes looks a little strange. Its not a special mix though.

Damn, with all the "I don't usually like Fords" stuff in this thread, maybe I need to get some folks from Stangnet to start visiting a bit more often.

Anyway, being a Mustang guy, and owning a '70 Mach, I thought the car was ok, but a bit too new trendy "Matchbox" for my taste.
