Had the Caprice on the dyno yesterday. At the wheels the best run was 636 Hp, 675 Torque at 4800 RPM, 9 lbs boost. Beyond 4800 rpm the boost dropped. At 5800 rpm it was at 6 lbs It turns out the hose from the intercooler was loose. Couldn’t make another pull do to strange rattling noise coming from the transmission. It’s time for a new torque converter. Any recommendations?

Specs; 540ci, turbo 400, reverse shift pattern, Trans brake, 3.55 rear + Gear Vendors over drive. 99.9% street driven. I like to cruse, @70mph the rpm's are 2600, Caprice 4600 lbs

Damn that thinig is so bad ass! Why a new converter? hurt it? Want more stall? Tighter? Driving thru this one? Worried about your calves?

When the transmission is in gear it sounds like I have tin marbles in it. The flex plate is not perfectly straight any more. Maybe some ballooning going on here.
I would like the converter tight, and indestructible. Yeah I know that if it’s loose I will have better ¼ mile, but I like to cruise, and a slipping converter builds heat.

I would use Coan or ATI for a blower or nitrous converter and look for a 11", 10" at the smallest. Get a grand ready. Also, might be able to find some deals on converters at racingjunk, and most good converter companies will service their units for a couple hundred bucks, including a restall.
