The ones on the Mule were punched in after pulling the inner structure off the hood. There are lots of shops with louver punches. It is lining them up right tat is the hard part.

My 67 Shelby has a glass hood with louvers glassed in.

I just purchased a set of 68 Shelby louvers only from Maier racing. They make most of the Shelby hoods. I'll be putting them in a new hood eventually. Very good quality, minimal handwork will be needed.

IIRC the 67 louvers are narrower and longer while the 68 vents are wider and deeper with more vent cross-sectional area and a slightly tapered profile.

Be prepared, you might have to wait a while.

where are you located?

my car had louvers in it when i bought it, but i think that this shop did it: http://www.hookedonclassics.com/louver.php

fwiw: even if you think it looks nice, i'm not sure it's a good idea. it's a very expensive way to let water into the engine bay, and it requires cutting out the inside support to the hood then tack-welding it back in.

Yes I am looking for a set of those. What is the part # as I dont see the louvers only for sale on the Maierracing site???

Charlie, I will be glassing or mounting the louvers into a fiberglass hood.

Yep I like those as well.

THeMonkey I think i may have a nifty solution for the rain...but it really doesnt matter to me as this will only be a spare hood.

I hate pointing you this direction, but it might help... the euro and import scenes seem to have lots of hood louver options. For example, you can get aftermarket versions of the Ford Cosworth RS500 hood louvers fairly readily. I wanted a set for my XR4Ti project's hood, but instead I'm using a set of '78 Z28 fender louvers. They're nice looking and just the right sizebut a bit more agressive in appearance than the RS500 pieces.

Yep, I had thought about that also. I will call Maier on Monday to try and get a set but if not I will look to the........I cant believe I am saying this............. import aftermarket.
