Here's a Motor Trend write up. (http://motortrend.com/features/consumer/112_0501_bosesuspension/index.html) pay attention to the last paragraph on the third page. Here's a video (http://motortrend.com/av/112_0501_bosesuspension_vid1/index.html) and here's another. (http://motortrend.com/av/112_0501_bosesuspension_vid2/index.html) What do you think?

The theory behind it is good, and the technology is workable, but right now it's not yet ideal from a mass production, cost feasibility, or performance standpoint (lots more unsprung mass in the current design.)
With some more R&D, it has the potential to be a great system. Some OEM is going to have to sign it on to dump the dollars at it to "work it out." The current stuff is great from a technology demonstration standpoint, but won't be appearing on production cars or available to the aftermarket anytime soon without some more development.
At least it appears to work better than their speakers and systems sound... (that's not saying much, LOL) :poke:

Wow thats harsh. I work for Bose in the Automotive group.
The suspension has a ton of Patents on it and there won't be any funding from any OEM's.
Think about it, Bose researched it for 24 years and finally made it public knowledge. Bose funded it with its own money. No need for help now. It works there is nothing to work out.
Its going to come down to who wants to offer it in there car. It will only be an OEM, so no aftermarket.

I have to agree with Blown. My Bose home theater system works great. Clear as a bell and loud as Hell, but my Wife and Mom just bought an Escalde for their interior design business and the Bose sound system in it is a major disapointment. It doesnt sound any better than the system in my Suburban, and that is not saying a whole lot.

Well thank GM for cost cutting. did you know that the system in the trucks, tahoes, avalanche, suburban, denalis, escalades, and H2 are all the same.
The interior space in all those vehicles are all different but GM wanted them to all use the same speakers and bass boxes. The Bose in certain trucks will sound alot better then in other trucks for that reason.

Audio reproduction and engines have one thing in common.............. There is no replacement for displacement.
4 x 18 (2 per 40 cu/ft cabinet) and 8 x Fostex fe208 e sig's (4 per array)

Along with hotrods, I have serious audio issues as well. :pat:
The cabinets pictured are 5' and the array is just over 6' and weight in at around 650 lbs/ea.

On the topic of the suspension, it just might fly. Not today, but, maybe tomorrow. GM has electronic (magnetic) dampers already......now all they have to do is make it an active suspension and it would be pretty much the same thing as the BOSE system. I wonder if the ability of being able to jump a 2x4 costs more....?? :rotfl:
On the other subject:
What's pictured I can not take credit for, they belong to John Kalinoski. I just dig his "Decware Imperial" cabinets, designed off of the original "Jensen Imperial" cabinets......
:headbang: and then he stuck 18"s in them :headbang:
The system I have in my pad now are just some little ole Altec 816 cabinets with a horn loaded Altec 416 (15") and the matching horn cabinet loaded with an Altec 511B horn, driven with an Altec 802 compression driver......in roughly 16 cu/ft.
My other cabinets run 2 Altec 416's (15") per side in 28 cu/ft with the same horn and driver but only with 3200 Watts behind them. The only problem is, I live in an up stairs unit and the floor wont support the weight of the cabinets......nor will they make the turn at the top of the stairs.
How about these. BOSE doesnt have sheeot on the pressure wave these make. I think it was stated with the 24" driver, this cabinet made 126 dB (spl) at 37 Hz.

Upon testing, he found a weakness with the homebuilder.........and a cracked celing.

the suspension seems to have potential but obviously it will take more time before we see it in the OEM. Even then its only going to be in the high high end luxury cars i would assume.
