About to spend some cash on a paint job and .. I'm going out on a limb a little... have a 68 camaro convert.. with an ls-2, G/W suspension, ford 9" etc etc.. anyway I have a model of a hot wheel car called team bartwell orange whip camaro.. the tires are KMC 17" "hot wheels" rims.. here's a shot of what i'm thinking about doing with the car.. are the colors cool or crazy? great looking or a disaster? need honest opnions please as i'm spending a bit on the paint and have not started yet

the bottom is a crop shot of what I think it would look like as a convertible

thanks for honest opnions.. I know it will be a one of a kind.. sometimes that's a bit risky.. besides not a lot of people copy matchbox cars.. most are clones of yenko's :)

Honestly, I don't like the stripe. Connecting the front stripe to the horizonal stripe just doesn't look right to me. I would do one or the other but not both.

No, wait, I would not do the horizonal stripe at all after looking at it again.

A little too Home Depot on the orange. And the color combo looks a little too much like it belongs on a toy.

I'm with Bill on the stripe, way too much going on. I also dont think the stripe should totally reach the edge of the grill. I guess I like the stock belly stripe. One of the biggest problems is that it wraps all the way under and then there's this arbitrary spear trailing from it. The radii don't match at that transition either, the top is much larger.

With some more work, it could be a great look though.

Mmmmmm....creamsicles.

Seriously though, it looks pretty cool.

Might want to check with the actual Team Baurtwell http://www.teambaurtwell.com/ if you're thinking about just taking the paint job from the car.

Might look cool if you just scalloped the whole front end like the old custom rides. I think it's cool when people mix car genres.

I dont think the "scheme" looks bad. Maybe do a little variation on the orange... Looks to.... Something, Can't think of a word, But try playing with color.

Then again, YOU are spending the money, and this is YOUR car.

So who are we to tell you what you should or should not do. If you like it then do it, Building cars is about what makes YOU happy, not us.

Put the strip around the nose then put the hocky strip along the top of the fender like they came on these cars.
If that makes any sence.
I think the orange will be cool hard to tell on the comput.
Just my 2cents

I think you are confusing the 1969 "Hockey" stripe with the 1968 SS stripe to which the photo above has a close relationship:

The 1968 stripe goes down the center of the bodyline.

Personally, I'm not a fan. I prefer the simplicity of the 1967 bumble bee stripe myself. But, you can paint your car however you want. If you plan to sell it in the near future, or even think that may be a possibility, I wouldn't do anything too crazy.:drive2:
