I'll leave a breif description of my 1980 Camaro Z28 for all of you... If anyone has ideas or suggestions as to suspension upgrades I'd greatly appreciate it. The drivetrain is all done and I'm to the upgrade suspension/wheels/brakes point which collectively looks like a big investment but we'll see.
1980 Camaro Z28
-Small Block Chevy 350 .030 over to 355
-Edelbrock Performer PRM Pro Flo Fuel Injection
-Richmond 6 Speed Manual w/ Hurst Shifter and Classic Black Knob ; )
-4.10 Rear End
-American Racing Toruq Thrust D's 15x8.5 Front/15x10 Rear wearing BF Goodrich Radial T/As
-Huge Griffin Aluminum Radiator and the biggest electric dual fans I could fit w/ 180temp sensor to kick them on.
-CSR Electric Water Pump
-GM Torch Red (Used on 2000 Corvettes)
-No Radio ; ) Just Gauges, Autometer w/ stock fuel, speedo.
-Concealed Shift Light
-Disengaging BOSS steering colum + other hidden anti-theft gadgetry
-Stock Carmine Red Color Interior with Jaz Racing Seats and 5 Point Harness
-No Power Windows, AC, or other useless stuff, but it did come optioned with rear electric Defogger!
-Mid-High 11's on Stock BF Goodrich Radial T/As
-Roughly 450hp & 500ft lbs of Torque.
-Ate a 04 Viper & 04 Z06 on the streets of Detroit by a hair :drive:
Future Camaro Plans... Suggestions Anyone?
-Repainting to Factory Original GM Charcoal Metallic it left Norwood with including stock Orange to Red stripes, sides, hood spolier etc.
-Upgrade to Antricite Finish Torq Thrust M's in 17x8 & 17x9or17x10.5 or possibly 18x8 & 18x9 but its hard to decide which would look better and if the 18s would give me that added cornering benefit...
-Upgrade brake system with C5 Rotors all around, that nice wilwood master cylinder and stainless steel lines, however lately I've heard of this "hydroboost" system which interests me... perhaps you guys know more about it.
-Replace Plastic Racing Buckets with higher end Black Leather racing seats possibly with Stock Carmine colored inserts and new 5 point harness with newer buckle set-up instead of latch.
-Complete Re-vamp of front suspension including Global West A-Arms with del-a-lum bushings, new shocks and perhaps a modern rear set up down the road.
-Considering Polyurethane Body Bushings to increase handling, somewhat sure I want to stay away from the GW Solid Aluminum since I'd like to retain some cabin comfort.
Also... If anyone is interested in helping with suggestions... I need to contrive a new alternator set up including new alternator since my current one isnt strong enough with the custom made bracing and March Pulleys along with other companies dont make aluminum brackets that will work with my CSR brand electric water pump. Recently my alternator threw its fan into my hood and shattered onto the ground (very fun experience) likely from the high frequency vibration so... if anyone is good with accesory bracketry and could think of some set ups that still look nice without the big alternator shroud I can send you engine bay photos and perhaps we can work something out!:wrc:
Also... I've seen a number of people upgrade to the Wilwood Aluminum Master Cylinder and remove their brake booster at the same time...? Is this standard or easily dooable? Since I'd love to get rid of my huge ugly brake booster sitting in there now? Thanks!:twothumbs
