Hi!
I read a post about changing the original rag joint to a universal joint , when You lower the body over the subframe.

What do I need to make it fit ?

Is there a universal joint that will fit the original steering column ?

Found this thread.

What is a DD shaft?

Anyone got pictures ?

Partnumbers ?

We can set you up with a conversion joint. Manual or Power steering? BTW, a double D shaft is the intermeidiate shaft on a front steer car. You do not have one in your Camaro.

I have original Power steering.
Do I have to modify the steering column at all,...or is it bolt on ?
Pics?
Price?

Just did this on my car, for different reasons (I needed header clearance) try www.borgeson.com (http://www.borgeson.com) or www.flamingriver.com (http://www.flamingriver.com) you'll have to measure for the correct size. Mine ended up being 1"-48 spline (stock tilt column) and 13/16" - 36 spline (steering box end)

Here's a pic:

Thanks for the picture ! That explains a lot.

There is no splined shaft coming out at the bottom ,where the rag joint is attached.(see pic.)

I dont know if this is the original column.

I also looked at two other Camaros (-68 and-69)
The -69 column looked like "Rybar´s" .
The -68 had a big hex nut , where the r-joint is attached.:hmm:

So here we have three different steering columns for 1st. gen. Camaro.

I guess I have to find an other steering column , with a splined shaft.
That will solve My problem.

Mike, e-mail that pic to the tech guys at Borgeson or Flaming River, they should know what you have there.

Great news, it was a big pain for me to figure out the correct size, I'm really glad I could help you out.
