so I rattle canned them w/ Dupli Color wheel specific paint. Take a gander and tell me what you think? I took many hours taping them off and it paid off. If I didn't tell you they were painted you would never know. They are exactly what I was looking for color wise.

Later....

First off - thanks everybody for kudos!

molyorange 77 my TT II's are the CL205's so they had a course finish to them (they resemble the old skool magnesium look) so I had advantage and that was I did not have to rough up the surface. I used Dupli Color Grease and Wax remover and started spraying the wheel paint from there. Three coats of paint and 2 coats of Dupli Color clear and that is it!

However, I did cheat a bit. I had a rough cast aluminum piece that was on my Harley that the finish was allot like my wheels so I sparyed that piece just as I would have done with the wheels, waited a day and I wanted to see if I could scrape or scratch the paint off my test piece (checking the durability of the paint) and to no avail I could not damage the freshly painted cast aluminum Harley piece. That was proof enough for me that this stuff works as promised and looks sweet too.

If you have the "regular" non CL205 wheels (aka polished TT II's) I personally would sand or bead blast them. Otherwise I would always be woried that the paint may let go one day. JMHO... I don't think scotchbrite will give you a course enough surface. Plus, you CANNOT possibly get into the tight corners either with scotchbrite.

I work with sandblasting and scotchbrite and you can't be post painting results from something that has been sand or bead blasted.

We have rain and snow mix starting right now but once we get some clearer skies and dry pavement I'll snap some outside pictures.

I haven't even had a chance to see what the wheels look like out in the sun. The metallic in the wheel paint is really supposed 'pop' when the light hits it.

I finally was able to take some pictures of my TTII's which I rattle canned w/ Dupli Colors Graphite Wheel Paint. This stuff is awesome - lays great, even distribution of paint, perfect color match, and a tough durable coating which is the next best thing to powdercoat.

Check out the pictures and tell me what you think.

That looks great! Have you been reading PHR? I was thinking of painting my wheels, but they are polished and I will have to sand blast them first. Nice to know the product works!

Really nice! Great Job! In the first pics it looks like you had to grind the spokes for caliper clearance or is that just the photo?

How well has this paint held up? I have a set of American Racing torque thrust II Classic wheels that already have the grey centers but I don't like the color. Its a blueish looking grey.
I bought the Dupli-color wheel coating in a graphite like yours and tested it on a few metal pieces. Looks a heck of a lot better but I was just concerned about how well the paint would hold up.
I'm sure it will probably be decent for my application (summer cruiser) but thought I'd ask.

Thanks,
