My Girlfriend grounded me yesterday from working on my car for a few days, until I heal up. She is the sweetest girl I have ever met, but she is kinda a wuss when it comes to getting hurt. I have worked around cars since I was 12-13 so cuts, scrapes, etc are common. Yesterday she walks up as I am working on my car, and noticed my entire hand covered in blood and it was dripping from my hand. She freaks out when she saw all that blood, not to mention i wiped my hand a few times on my shirt, which was white so it showed up worse. So she proceeds to tell me that I can not work on my car until my hand heal up, granted the cut was deep and everything but nothing to freak out about. Oh and the last few days I have been doing some welding and managed to get a sunburn, that also grabbed her attention. I am going to humor her and take a break.

Anybody else got some stories?

haha thats funny. my wife laughs when I come inside cut again! :D although I take the cuts a little more serious than I used to. a couple of years ago I got a good one and cleaned it out good (so I thought) and put a couple of bandaids on it. the next day my thumb was swollon way up and purple! went to doc after work that night and he said one more night and I would have lost the thumb to infection!!!! Damn that was quick! something about rust being bad in a cut...

so at the very least clean and bandage it right away then back to work!

That is what I am saying, I bet that hurt like no other. Naw your not a wuss, and please don't think that is what I was implying. That is injured not hurt.

I usually get grounded when my wife sees the credit card bill. She could give a rats ass about me physically, just as long as it's not bad enough to keep me from going to work. LOL!!!

She used to fuss over me when we were dating, but that all changes when you get back from Cancun and she's got a big rock on her finger. You'll find that out soon enough.

Ain't that the truth! Here's my good "war story" complete with scar. When my wife and I were engaged, I was changing the thermostat on the Monte and I was wearing a watch with a metal band. Didn't realize that I was too close to the S-terminal on the alternator, and WELDED myself to the S-terminal for a few seconds; just long enough for the watch to get seriously hot and melt a few links together! I managed to get the watch off and saw some seriously black and crispy skin. Went to the local walk-in Emergency place and got cleaned out and some Silvadine cream for the burn. My wife was seriously upset at the time, and made sure she cleaned it out for me on a daily basis - with rubbing alcohol! Good thing it was a 3rd degree burn, because that didn't hurt a bit; dead nerve endings feel no pain LOL.

Now we're married five years, and if I get hurt outside, she just makes sure I'm OK, then tells me it's my fault and I should be more careful.

Having to get a lawyer to keep my drivers license is what gets me grounded.

Tell you girl friend that you love her dearly, but you already have a mother.

must be why I'm still single... they hate it when I give my priorities... business, house, cars, dog, then girlfriend.

I have to shut the door chimes off of my alarm system so she can't hear me sneaking into the garage after she goes to bed. She caught me at 2:00am with a wench in my hand! I thought family time was over once everyone whent to sleep?

I can see how that would bother her!

We are in the middle of building a house so right now that is the first priority. The car is sitting. Gotta keep her happy.

I had a wife like that one time, I traded her in for another one that understood. That was a REALLY expensive way to handle things though.

It's not a negative thing at all I'm totally cool with getting the house done first. I get to live in the new house too and when it's done the car goes to the front. Besides, the car is a toy, the house is an asset.

My car is an asset, just not a very cost-effective one. :crying:
I am grounded from my project at the moment because my wife wants the money for our big vacation coming up...

Only time I have gotten grounded from working on a project is either $$$$$ or too cold out side. you guys with garages are lucky.

Well, I have to build a shed so she can park her car in the garage before I go back to the 442. Then again, it was kind of our decision to put the car off for a few house things, not a "her decision" sort of thing.

Thinking about this further, I did just buy a car AND a motorcycle. Her only rule was "no more projects untill you finish the 442." I can handle that. I'll post pics of the "new" '89 ASC/McLaren "Mustang" as soon as the weather clears so I can wash it.

Shiny Side Up!
