View Full Version : TH350 yoke and 200-4R the same?

Swapped my Th350 for a 200-4R in my 69 Cutlass. In all my research, I thought I could use the same driveshaft with out any changes. The driveshaft will not slide in far enough on the 200-4R to allow me to clear the rear end and install the universal. There is still about 3/4" of yoke showing sticking out of the 200-4R. I put the driveshaft back into the TH350, and it slides in all the way.

Here is what I have heard from other people.

1) Driveshaft yoke is flat out different between the 200-4R and TH350 trans.

2) The splines might be slightly twisted on the TH350 output shaft, and the driveshaft yoke. Those two parts still mate together because there were twisted 'together.' But installing the twisted yoke onto the straight tailshaft of the 200-4R causes it to not seat all the way.

Any thoughts or experience you can share?

Thanks,
Nick

The yoke is the same. You can also use the same driveshaft, unmodified from the th350, with your 200-4R. I have no idea why you're having a problem with yours. Could you take a measurement of the output shaft to see how much is sticking out compared to your th350? I honestly had absolutely no problem with mine when it came to this.

Oh, and try making sure that the splines on the yoke are clean as well.
