Anyone able to lend a link to me for a steel transmission tunnel tin kit?
I've seen the Chris Alston Chassis Works one, along with the aluminum one on ebay but I'm wondering if there are any other affordable approaches? I am looking for a steel kit.
Thanks gang!

you have a particular design your looking for? IMO it'd be more cost effective to build one or have someone build you one

hmmmm, most of the ones i've seen are from the companies that make the overdrive conversions. I'd try contacting them and see if they'll sell you just the peice.
Or you can just make one up yourself, the ones from the kit come flat and you have to "shape" them anyways.
Just an idea.........

This may sound crazy, but I read that a wheelbarrow is formed just right for a tunnel.

Wheelbarrow id for the setting back of engines.
I personally have located cars with similar trans and cut them out then cut ad fit them around the trans.
Leave AT LEAST and inch all around and allow for removal of the said unit (ie clearance for the bellhousing to move back on autos) friend built one super close and had to stand engine straight up and down to get trans out.
Like my Monza might need some help if I try to use my Switch Pitch 400.
Oh well still building.

I was thinking of buying this kit from Alston and getting the fab guy to fit it in. I talked to him and he likes this idea more. He said it will cheaper in the long run. Its 160 bucks for the steel version so I was wondering if anyone else knows of a similar product for less(maybe with no bead rolling?)

i cant think of anything else, Chris Alston has some nice stuff though. You want the bead rolling to give some support to the panels, makes them less flimsy

Ill build you the same thing or something similar for less than $160. That tunnel is cake.
