I was hoping that someone in here could help me with some information about the Lincoln Mark VIII rear suspension?
I just bought a mark VIII -98, but since I won't have it here in Sweden until June or so, perhaps someone could help me.
I need a new carrier for it and the only info I found is that it's a Ford 8,8 center section. How many splines are the shafts? 28 or 31?

Does that mean that all Ford 8,8 will fit as long as they're correct amount of splines? Mustang, Truck, lincoln etc?

The Mark VIII is independant, and the center section is different. The side gears are cut to hold a snap ring that is on the axle stub. Any 8.8 IRS 28 spline should bolt in. I suppose you could change the side gears.

You're talking about the gears inside the carrier?
These are interchangable between the different carriers?

Thanks,

Still wondering if I just can take a carrier from a solid axle and put the IRS gears in that carrier?

Anyone?
