Torque Converter Hits Flexplate Weights! Help Please

Edge Racing 9.5" converter for a 200-4R and an Olds engine. The torque converter mounting 'ring' hits the weights on the flexplate. If the mounting ring were about 1/4 smaller in diameter it would clear and fit inside it, but it overlaps even worse by the mounting points. What gives?

Some people have said to use washers and space the converter back, but I thought the installed dept on the input shaft was very specific.

I emailed Edge Racing, but I probably won't hear anything til Monday.

I'll have to check for sure, but I think on Chevys the weights point forward. In fact some are notched for bolt head clearance.

A few other Chevy friends of mine said the same thing, I'm checking with the guys at the Oldsmobile site to verify I have the flexplate mounted correctly.

I agree, flexplate is installed in the wrong direction, weights should be towards engine.

Flexplate is correct, I have a spare and it's the same thing. It IS installed correct as well, that's the way Olds flexplates are mounted.

I talked to Andre at Edge Racing, and long story short all I need is to space it back with some machined washers to clear the counterweights. He said that many SFI flexplates are thicker to begin with, and the extra thickness will not cause any problems.
