Mark VIII fan install questions?

There are 3 wires coming from the Mark VIII fan, which 2 do I use? They are all black wires of same gauge. I know one is ground, and if I recall there other 2 are for the 2 different fan speeds, but I only wire up the higher speed wire. Also on my test fit install the fan hit the electric water pump, so how much can I safely trim off?

So I guess the million dollar questions are -

Which 2 wires do I use from fan?

How much can I trim off the shroud to get it to fit?

IIRC, one of the wires does nothing. I figured it out by jumping the two non-ground wires to a spare 12v car battery.

Hey, Brad. Yes, use the outermost wires for the fan-you can cap off the middle terminal on the fan. You can trim up to about 3/4" for clearance if need be. How much space are we talking? Can you mount it offset?

On my BBC I had to trim about 1/2" from the shroud and offset it to get it to fit.... Had some other problems so did not get to try it out as I had hoped during the weekend trip, but it clears everything now and was a breeze to install with the SPAL controller, Thanks again Jabin!!!
