Mice have gotten into my 67' firebird and are tearing up the interior. Granted the interior is going to be redone but I don't really want my project to become a hotel.

I have also found droppings and a small chew whole in the seat of my 69' Chevy Shortbed... which is already restored. If I could only....:machine: the little s.o.b's.

I need help ASAP.... please any suggestions?

Ya just knew it was coming..........Is it hard to tell the difference between the male and female moths?:rotfl:

I end up leaving decon and also those mice bait blocks in the interior and trunk- I had the headliner eaten when I first built the car, what was worse was the piss all in the cardbard that is in the roof-- yuck.

The oldest way still works better than anything I have every tried. $2 mouse trap and $.20 worth of cheese will get them every time. We just rewired a motorhome that the mice had brought the green dcon INTO the coach and half eat it. That doesn't work, just pisses them off.
Trust me, lowtech mousetraps work every time.

Good luck,
I was thought mothballs would keep them out.
Looks like I better buy some traps just incase.

A better mouse trap?? Nope, just the cheapie like Bill said. Also, those sticky pads work great, but they do kind of stink. Get the little beggars out before they mate!

5 gallon bucket, 3/4" dowl(just long enough to fit in bucket sideways),
2 small nails, small set of steps(ramp will work),peanut butter,H2O.

1-put nails in ends of dowl
2-cut 2-small V's 180 degrees from each other on bucket rim.
3-lay dowl across v's
4-peanut butter installed in center of dowl
5-install steps at one end of dowl
6-fill bucket 1/2 full of H2O

Can you say 'log roll'

Ok guys first of all you cant use decon if there is no water around(its activated when they drink not ate.
Decon and use an old dog dish hub cap or favorite type cat bowl, put water out and Decon (the old flat box with poison oats) and then they dies.

The only thing with decon, you better find them when they die, or you will smell them for a couple of weeks.

EXACTLY!!!
They can eat Decon, then drink water, then crawl in some hidden crevious, and they will be stinking before you know they are dead, and then you have to deal with that. An old fashion trap kills them right now and the just lay there til you clean out the trap.

I agree that the old fashion traps work the best. Last winter I left a 3lb bag of grass seed in my shed, which backs up to the woods, not a smart idea. By spring there was about a half of pound left. Needless to say the shed became a very popular hang out for all of the neighborhood mice. In two weeks a got 18 mice with the snap traps.

One hint that really works, put a little piece of cottonball under the locking lever. Their claws get tangled in the cotton while eatting the bait...works every time.

I had a 76 CAmaro back in high school, took it out of storage in the spring and I COULD NOT believe the smell! The mice had been using the area in the headliner right next to my head as a urinal. Had to tear it all out to can the smell.

I have a cousin that uses this method in his barn, it works! He catches mice on a regular basis. One thing he does is use a mixture of antifreeze/H2O to keep it in a liquid state throughout the winter.

I have an excavator that for some reason acts like a Motel8 for mice. They at one point had chewed up all the wires for my gauge panel. PITA!! I tried mothballs and a few different old wives tale methods, none of that crap worked, started using snap-traps and have gotten eight over the winter. Problem solved. :machine:

Thanks guys... I really appreciate all the help. I think I will go with the regular old traps and I will give the "bucket of death" a try.
