I used to spend all my money on CBR's. I topped mine out at 185. 75 in first gear with 5 to go! I havn't driven the R-1 but have rode the r-6. The r-6 pegs were too high. Felt like my hips were dislocating. Have fun, just watch out for sand and all other drivers.
My friends used to give me crap for using my directionals at 165 ;>)

I still ride my 2000 CBR 929RR, it's still a great bike and very reliable in the 31K miles i've ridden it. Here in AZ we don't really have a non-riding season but I know its nice to get out on two wheels whenever possible.
Rubber side down!!

I like the ninjas. not as narrow or crouched as some others. This 99 zx9r is my first bike. put about 20k on it so far. looking into one of the new zx10's or even possibly a gsxr 1000. I try to using as much as possible. bike is very stable at 160+:revto9k: Its not the all out fastest , but will run very closely with 1000 cc bikes.

hmmm. is my avatar still working?? Hopefully so!
I've had a gamut of Kaw's in my garage. Currently an 00' 12R with some mods.
Since we're on a board of speed/adrenaline freaks I can proudly share that it runs 9.3's @ 150 in the quarter-mile on stock swingarm, motor and tires. (I'm 150lbs and there's lots of video evidence) It's also been topped out a couple of times which is just SCARY FAST.
She's getting a big-bore kit now because.......as you all know, it wasn't fast enough! ;) lol.
Just remember though, the speedo on pretty much ALL sportbikes reads high. So, a reading of 100mph is more like 90mph and it gets worse the faster you go.

Chris,
That 06 R1 is a beast man! They're not quite as torquey as the liter v-twins but they will burn them down. (except for maybe the new ducati 1098). A buddy of mine has an 06 and absolutly loves it. Congrats on the new toy.

I ride a Honda VFR (aka: the old mans sport bike, because it's actually fairly comfortable to ride). In terms of having a muscle car it's been the worst investment ever. I have a '70 Chevelle with 468, aluminum heads, tremec 5-speed, blah, blah, blah. I bought the VFR used, for half of what the engine alone cost me in the Chevelle, and the VFR makes the Chevelle seem slow. Once you've ridden a modern sport bike it's hard to be impressed by a car.

Yeah, till you start modding one (at least a Harley), then you realize what a ripoff the bike world is parts wise...
That's why I'm selling mine and getting back into cars. You get twice the stuff for the $...

My wife won't let me have a bike, it seems that is where she draws the line. So I have nothing to add but this: From the main board, this is what I saw and got a bit scared

I had one, but sold it to help fund the latest stuff with my car, It was an 04 gixxer750, insanely fast, but it's not where my heart is. I have ridden my buddies 06 R1 and, you will not be dissappointed! Insane amount of power, made my 750 feel like a moped!
I too would like to get a V-rod, but I just cant bring myself to do it, because I just think that its money I can put in the car.
I dont know, it's getting warmer out...........

Last year I bought a Suzuki Bandit 600 because I couldn't find a decent price (or find, for that matter) an SV650. It was my DD from June-October.
Since you have your bike, get your gear (all of it), and take a lesson or two. There's nothing safe about bikes, but you can make it a little less dangerous.
With that said, enjoy!

I do, I do!!!:seizure: Its an addiction. I ride a yammy FZ-1 on the street, got almost 30k on her already. And then theres my track addiction. Currently riding a 07 GSXR 600 on road course and doing a little racing here and there. She fully prepped for the track no longer street legal, but it sure is fun
Here's some pics taken this weekend at the track

I just got into, I bought an 01 F4i, and it's been a blast. It got stolen last week, but miraculously was recovered with fairly minimal damage. Buy a chain lock!

I'm on my third street bike, '00 Aprilia RSV Mille. I used to have a '98 ZX6R but happened into a euro bike dealer and got to hear the awesome sound of an Italian V-twin with a pipe. I was sold! I sold the Ninja and bought the twin. After merrily riding on the street, I made the mistake of going to a one day Keith Code school and got a taste of the race track. Ever since then, riding on the street has been quite boring. I'd love to turn mine into a track only bike but there's no track near enough to me to make it worth while. I'm probably going to sell it to help fund my new project, that is if I can get a decent amount of money for it. If I can't get enough for it, then I'll let it sit until I live closer to a track.

Had a 99 Busa, with to many mods to count, love the ride, and you really cant compare them to a muscle car after you ridden one at 180 plus

Nope not into them,
too many here in Cen FL, heard a guy slam a SUV Wednesday, and it was probabally a mile away, BIG BOOM, he died, Thats all I hear around my house, Too many guys running through the gears, top speed, Too many people hauling ass in residential neighborhoods,
Why would you go over a 100 MPH down a straight road with 5 subdivisons on one side of the road, and 6 one the other, don't you think that someone might pull out in front you???

I'm with you Yelcamino, by buddy has an identical bike, he used to work at ducati and let me ride all sorts of sweet italian bikes. I don't think I'll ever go back to inline fours. That torque from the v-twins is so much fun. Now i just drool over the new ducati 1098.

The v-twins definately have a unique sound! As soon as I saw the 1098 I told my wife I really need to trade up and she gave me one of those looks! So I guess I'm not. :crying:

I owned a 2003 R6 and bought a 2005 Hayabusa in 2005
Then last year I added this 2005 Harley FXDWGI with 4600 miles on it to the stable.
Got it cheap from Chicago Cycle where my buddy is the finance manager. :) Couldn't resist the chance.

I am into the older/vintage bikes myself. Currently own a 1972 Honda CB750 Cafe/Streetfighter deal-e-o -->
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/04/Spring3-1.jpg
And I am almost finished with it's little brother, a 1974 CB450 Twin->

They are fun (and cheap) to own/ride/build, and it cures my bike itch so the main $$ can go into the car...

Cool streetfighters!
I've got a build going on right now with my old slimline featherbed Norton frame and my Buell XB9 with a 1203 porkchop flywheels going together.
Just call it a Noruell!
Those are some nice Cafe/Streetfighter deal-e-o's you got there!

Thanks for the kind words guys, they are always much appreciated.
The CB450 is almost done, and will prob. be up for sale to help fund a new motor for the 55. The CB750 is getting a few things changed on it for this season like paint and a new smooth top triple-tree (no gauges :twothumbs ). Less is def. more on these little bikes...
