Today I took a walk through Uni-steer.
I went to Maval today and was realy impressed. First thing you notice when you get on the manufacturing floor is how clean and organized everything is. The people are nice and the few I talked to are car guys. You also notice when you get on the Unisteer side is they have a corral with customer cars that Maval uses to fit/design/refine their product.
There was a beautiful blue early 70 something Chevelle on the rack that they let me look under and I tell ya what the fit and finish was beautiful. It was tucked and in no way in harms way. There was also a ford something or other that reminded me of a Thunderbolt but I didnt look at that.
Right near the cars are the machines that make the rack section and input rods. (sorry I dont know the exact terms) The machine work was inpecable using new Hyundai CNC lathes. The lathe I took a good look at made the splines finished size and made the threads all in one. Even the inside of the machines where clean which after reading alot of threads about another manufacturer of engine parts having dust and chips inside I was happy to see this.
I didnt see any parts for the uni-steer stuff that was reused from OEM Everything was made inhouse to spec. (that I saw)
Its a smallish shop but the setup was very efficient. I wish they had a car like mine in there so I could scope that set up out but no luck.
Wish I could afford one because Id jump on it in a hearbeat.
They even had a happy pack of dogs in the offices. I saw 6 in some pics but I only counted 4.
PS this isnt an ad and Im in noway affiliated with uni-steer. Just had some time for a walk through and they are very local to me
