I noticed that chevy makes a carburated manifold for the 92 to 97 lt1 engines.anyone have any experience with this set up?

It's good in street rods, but beyond that, I don't have any.

It would run like any other carb'd engine.
An HEI distributor can be used w/that intake making it non-electronic.
You can remove the troublesome Opti-spark distributor and still use the gear driven water pump. It'll be low-tec and high-tec (sort of) at the same time.

If you don't like fooling w/electronics and want to trash the ugly mass of wires, it's the way to go.

Jegs sells em. They're made by Edelbrock.

If its a roller engine you will need the melonized distributor gear and dont let the end play get more than .035".

Yeah,My brothers got an old lt1 from a 97 z28 he recked a while back in his garage just taking up space,Its pretty tempting to stuff into my chevelle but I didnt want to deal with all the fuel injection and computer stuff.will there be any significant power loss going carb.

Unless you are getting it really really cheap, why not just build a normal small block Chevy? Use Vortec heads, they are the same runner & port configuration.

Just my $.02
