Hi I've been dying to post pictures of my car for a while now but, can barely point and click.
I Looked for a car for over a year two trips to N.Y. one to Va. and one to Maryland only to get there to find the cars were alot less than described. I have a friend who kept saying go see my old car its a 69 SS/RS numbers matching engine ,rear not sure about the Transmission. I was looking for a car already done not a project.I agreed to go look at the car.
We made three seperate appointments to see the car every time the owner was never there. Finally we met him.
The 69 was under a car cover it was parked there in 1991 shut off covered and never looked at again until I went to see it. I took a friend with me ,we uncovered it checked out the doors trunk and the rest of the car. The worst thing about it was there was mold on almost everything you could wipe it off with you hand . I didn't tell him but it was better than some of the cars i saw and less the one fourth the money. It only had 53,000 original miles on it the tires were soft but not flat He wanted 8500 it I walked around it for a while and offered him 6500 he said get the cash so I took it out and thats how I bought the car.
The funny part was after all that searching it was 3 miles from my house. I had been driving by it for about 10 years. I brought the car home( the wife was not impressed) rebuilt the carborator put gas changed all the fluids and drove it for two and a half years with out a problem. UNTIL
Last year I decided to pull the drive train and bought a Bill Mitchel Hardcore 454 small block stroker 610/575 to put in the car. I wanted a 6sp Viper trans (had to have it ) the trans was the hardest part to find I found a 2000 take out sent it to Keisler ( I didn't know about this site then) had them do it up and finnaly got it home I don't have a garage so a friend offered his we pulled the motor and trans. and noticed some movement in the sub frame.
LET THE GAME BEGIN
we decided to remove the front sheet metal some rust not bad we put jack stands under the rear of the sub frame and let the jack down from the front, and the subframe followed it down almost to the floor. the body mounts looked ok but the rubber pulled through the mounts Thats when I decided to do full resto.
The car has been sent to Mikes Custom Cars in S.C. he pulls every pannel right down to the frames around the windows roof and rockers and replaces everything new.
He will start on it next week he's going to minni tub it, put convertable rocker pannels, tie them into the subframes smooth the firewall and put a Chassis Work Fab9 w/35 spline axles and drop it 3".
Hope this link works after all this typing this is some of the pics. of what I started with. Thanks for looking
