What does it take to put an lt1 t-56 to a 2 piece cranks seal sbc?
I've heard conflicting things from a few easily fabbed brackets and a mcleod bellhousing all the way to $6500 kits.

What gives?

i believe you will need a custom flywheel that is a pull off style clutch and the bolt spacing of a 2 piece seal, i think McLeod or centerforce makes one, the lt1 bell housing should bolt right up.

James got it right-

The only special item needed is available off the shelf- From McLeod or Centerforce, in the form of a flywheel. It will still use the LT1 style pull off clutch and pressure plate, and the LT1 bell housing bolts to any SBC/BBC.

Matt, you dont really need Centerforce or McLeod flywheel. The pressure plate (pull off style) will bolt up to a stock 153 tooth flywheel from a pre-86 block, the only thing different (unless IM WAY OFF BASE) are the composites used to make the flywheels. The one that we will playin with is from a 80s 305 sbc 305 block. I dont know how far out you are from tackling this project, but we should have the push type set up donr by the end of January. Less money spent, and you will have more selection of dics and pressure plates.

Matt, see the post (T-56 retainer Bearing), this will give you an idea of what we are trying to accomplish.

Thanks for the input. I'm really trying to figure out which of two directions I want to go, and trying to figure which is the more fun, more reliable, and more fiscally responsible route.
