When building your car, did you remove the door crash bar that's in there? How big of a PITA was it to remove?

Thanks!

I remember 22 pounds, but I forget if that is for both or per side. Search over at NastyZ28.com, I know there are numerous threads about this.

You need a cage to make up for the reduced safety. Those bars are part of the uni-body construction. They effect side impact and frontal collision integrity. Edit: I just noticed Craig M asked this! Do'h, you know that!!!

You can easily remove them by drilling the spot welds and cutting a hole at the back of the door to pull them out. Of course this is a big penalty to pay if your car is already painted.

If you are not going to cage it, just replace the heavy bar with an appropriately sized chromoly tube. Should give about the same effect and weighs a lot less.

So what did you decide? Are you going to take them out?

If we do the car, probably.
