Hello All, I've been lurking behind the scenes here for a few months without posting. I figured it was now time to introduce myself and my project.
I'm building a 1970 Chevy truck in a pro-touring fashion, but it will be built to be my daily driver. Currently it has a Goodwrench 350 with a Bowtie Overdrives 700R4 and a 3.73 open rear. Eventually I hope to build it into a twin-turbo'ed multi-port fuel injected 383 with a 6-speed behind it. But that is probably a long ways away.
As it sits, the suspension has been rebuilt and lowered 4.5" in front and 6" in rear using Early Classic Enterprises' parts. Turns out, it's not low enough, and doesn't handle well enough for me, so back to the cutting board. I'm contemplating on whether to install a C4 corvette front suspension or modify/build my own front suspension. The rear will retain the truck arm setup, and front and rear will be suspended by coil-overs. More than likely I will end up with 18" Coys Grey C-5 wheels all the way around. Most of the other guys that build trucks like this put air bags on them, which is fine if that's your cup of tea. Personally, I'm tired of seeing trucks that lay the body on the ground and tuck 24" wheels. I'm wanting a dead reliable, well-handling daily-driver that just looks mean.
I've attached a couple of pics of what it looks like right now. I have a long ways to go, but I hope to gain some of you experts' knowledge from this board along the way. Thanks for having me!
