View Full Version : I love this place
I can't tell you exactly why, but right now I am furious at people's unwillingness to open their minds. In a couple months you will all know why because I finally plan to tell everyone what I have been working on. It's nothing huge as much as it is personal. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here that walks in with an open mind and does not bitch because someone took a different route on their build. There are so many ways to go fast, why bother telling someone their way is wrong because it's not your way? Thank you to all that have gone out of your way to share the knowledge you have and have learned with others simply so they can have it easier than you may have had. This place truly is great compared to so many others out there. Everyone here should be proud of what work they have done or are going to do no matter how small. Thanks everyone for making this place nice. And please keep giving the finger to those who insult your work before it's even done or because it's not how they would have done it. Take care everyone.

Thanks for the compliments. Larry has set the tone for this forum and it's important to him that we be supportive and welcoming to the members.
Opinions are fine, but put-downs and insults are not.

Definently diggin this place as well. Everyone does their own thing, yet people put insight and experience into a problem of a members. Love it. I know i have learned many things that couldn't be learned from a manual or perhaps a magazine. Simply because of the range of subjects and people that are here.
Thanks to all that help out on this forum. Its a great place.
I try to help with my limited knowledge. lol. Does that count? ha

Trey...I will say thank "YOU" for all the knowledge and wealth of information that "YOU" have provided on this site, especially to me. I learned a lot about this LSX stuff from you and am extremely grateful. Give yourself a pat on the back. It's people like you that have made this site the success that it is today.
And don't worry...my militant stance on Pro-Touring has gotten me into plenty of verbal battles. LOL!!!
its always nice to go one forums that are like this one. open minded and friendly!. But I will say you have to tell us first what your building! I love different combos!
soon I will tell.
I am glad to know I am not the only one here who feels this way. Now that I have had a day to calm down and think, I realize I took something personal that was not meant to be. It was basically disapproval of the build based on what I consider pissy little reasons. If you going to say something negative about a build, you better have a damn good reason. Saying "It's smaller so it can't possibly be a better choice" is a pissy little reason. Makes me almost wish I knew what to do with a turbo 3.8. I'll give them smaller then.
Anyway, I am proud of my work and I am nowhere near done. I hope soon to have a couple of items that may help others out. It's honestly nothing major. Just different than what's out there now. And while there is not another car on this board doing this, I am hoping some of the parts will still work on other chassises(is that how you spell the plural of chassis?). So maybe I'll even be able to become a sponsor of this here fine establishment. Time will tell though. Til then keep your minds and eyes open. Ears too if you've got them.

...Makes me almost wish I knew what to do with a turbo 3.8. I'll give them smaller then.....Hmmm....3.8L turbo....2nd gen Firebird...hmmmm...that would be a good plan! I stopped getting mad at what other numbnuts thought a long time ago. Now I just get mad at what I think & do!
ok cleared. I didn't even know it was full. Thanks
For a hint, ummmmmmmmm. It's not my 79 unfortunately. I've got a 6.6 gen 3 or 4 planned for that one. I think lol. I'm just gonna say be patient. I should be able to say something in the next couple weeks.
Oh and I am not talking about anyone here. That's why I love this place, I don't have to put up with any of the crap I am referring to in the original post.

Trey,
There's nothing wrong with different. That's part of what hot rodding is all about. Good luck with your new venture. We wait impatiently.

Trey- As a fellow 'different' guy, I'm there with ya man. I get tons of "WTF??" looks when I show people my ride and my plans.
Who cares anyway- I earn my money, take good care of my family, and have more than a right to enjoy it as I want.

I especially like when people get p!ssed off because I did something taboo to my car. For instance the Pontiac purists really hate me for putting a Big block Chevy motor in my Pontiac. I do not do stuff on purpose to go against the grain, I just do what I want to do and the naysayers always show up shortly thereafter.
"You put a TKO 600 tranny in there? That's nice, but imagine if you had a 4L80E!"
"Those Boyd rims are cool but why didn't you get real torque thrusts instead of knockoffs" --huh?
I am getting fed up with wannabe gearheads who look right past all the performance mods I have done and tell me "That thing will be bad@ass when you get the body and interior redone." I am really tempted to primer the body and leave it that way, and leave the interior clean but tore-up and used looking, (with NO stereo!). I could care less about how it looks at this point, I just want it solid and faaast.

You're absolutely right Tony. That is why I got so peeved at the people who were being closeminded to something different for what I consider to be very petty reasons. I love seeing something different and off the wall.

I may not be building a " different project " but I can appreciate anything that takes, time, talent, and a heart felt desire to achieve your dreams / goals. I probably let this hobby take up to much of my thoughts and time, but its what makes me tick.
I completely agree that this is my favorite site, the knowledge base here is enormous with depth. I always feel comfortable, almost like family, when reading through posts. Without this site my project would not be where it is today. When it comes to the LSX engines LS1tech is king and I'll admit I have spent hundreds of hours there during my first conversion, but its not the same. ( Sorry Tony, not a slam )
This group seems much more close knit, I'm sure that is partially due to the fact its smaller. But the fact remains, everyone seems very personable here. When I signed up last year to attend the RTTH2, I'll be honest, I jumped at the chance when I saw how inexpensive it was. After I realized the caliber of cars that were going to attend I had second thoughts about attending with my newer gen Camaro. I went and made some new friends, never felt uncomfortable or looked down upon. I proud to be a member of this board, and would like to thank everyone for their time a patience with some of us newer bees. :)
When I get more time I hope to contribute more back to the board, vs. all the knowledge I have taken from it.
Kudos to Larry the admins. and each and every member.
