Ive been getting some ideas together to "modernize" the exterior on my 68 Firebird. One thing I thought of was to flush the rear tail lights. Look at this pic.

See how they are raised? Just thought maybe flush mounting them would clean up the look. Along with getting rid of the key hole for the trunk and possibly using one of Larry's gas caps instead of the door with the bird. Thoughts? Has anyone actually done something like this?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen any, but I'd like to do it to my '70 Bird as well.

There's a couple guys working on something for both of your cars. Not sure I can say what's up, but the idea kicks ass.....

If done correctly you really wouldn't see lights untill they are illuminated. You basically blend them into the panel. The reverse lights which are clear are a bit of a problem because the lens allows the actual leds show through. You can get the strip built in any color arrangement you want. I just did reverse lights on my Rambler and sunk them into the bumper gaurds. They sit low so you really can't see leds. All i can say is damn they are bright!!

Very nice Tony. I definately think that is something I am going to look into. I have seen something like you are talking about the LEDs. The black 68 camaro that was so popular on here like 2-3 weeks ago? Didn't that have a smooth panal in the back all blacked out?
