Hello,
I was going to buy a LSx engine when I came across a great deal for a Holley C950 from Ebay. May question is; how do I know if it's a wide or narrow band system? The box just came in today and I dont know the first thing about EFI systems.

There should be a sticker on the ECU with a serial # on it. Call Holley Tech and they will be able to tell you if you have the Pro (wideband) or regular ECU. I think all Holley ECU's produced after 2001 are wideband capable...but check with Holley to be sure.

WIdeband "capablity" only has to do with the firmware. There is no hardware in the ECU. You still need the external wideband controller. The firmware/software that is setup for a wideband is versions 3.x.

Look to see if there is a decal on teh back of the ECU that says 3.x.

If it doesn't it might still.


Ask the seller what the firmware version is.

You can upgrade any ECU for under $100, and if you buy a Holley wideband kit (534-188 or 534-197) the ECU upgrade is included.

I dont even know if I need the system to be wide band. It's just a 10:1 motor with performer RPM heads and cam.

wideband is much easier to tune in all operation modes (closed loop vs open loop , high rpm, low rpm, etc) over narrowband. Plus with the 950 when in closed loop operation you can tell the computer what air fuel ratio you want to run and it will make adjustments to keep it there assuming you have a good base map.

Without the wideband connected to my Holley 950 I would have been much more in the dark about tuning. With it tuning has been a breeze. I agree with Doug - "Best $300 you could spend....".

Yah I have the narrow band version.
Im going to try it as it is for now.
Im in the process of installing it now and just a bit confused.
The injector wire harness; does it matter what connector goes to what cylinder?

Has anyone hooked the c950 up to a 700r4?
I know I had to buy a tv hook up for my barry grant; do I need one for this throttle body? If so who can I get it from?

I called Holley tech and the guy told me that I needed this.

I have a similar base plate Bowtie Overdrives. I think Im going to try to hook it up and see what the range of motion is. I really dont want to spend 150 if I dont need to.
