View Full Version : Potential vendor to stay away from

There is this particular vendor of NOS and resto parts, not in my state and who will not be named, until our argument is finalized on Monday 19 Feb. I ordered 3 NOS wheel well moldings for my car and We agreed on terms last week. I called just now to confirm my order and I get told that "I'm not selling you 1 of the pieces that you ordered." I ask why not and I am told that I failed to tell these folks that 1 of the parts in question is rather difficult to find. These people restore and sell old cars as well as parts, so they HAD to have known this. Which they did as it turned out, I ask for my order to be filled as agreed. They want to up the price now, I say why, I already agreed to the deal? Why do these people think that their consumers don't count? I was also told that I cant do anything about this. We'll see about that. Come 19 Feb I'll let the rest of this out of the bag, I hope that it is a happy ending.

Be sure to let us know the outcome. Nobody wants to deal with people that go back on their word. Hopefully they will have honor and complete the deal as agreed upon.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with my credit card people and my purchase hasnt been posted yet but it is for the 2 wheel well moldings and not for 3. My level of pissoffitude is growing by the minute. I hope this works out as we originally agreed.

Those parts are being discontinued. I tried to get a pair of fronts from the dealer, but the LH front was out. I had to order one from Ricks.
There are still LH rears, but the RH rear has been gone for awhile. Sets of 4 sell for 500-650 on ebay, most of that cost being the RH rear.
Check with Ricks.
It might be worth buying the windshield and rear window stainless trim right now as well.

OK, here's the latest and the end result. Camaro Specialties 112 Elm St. E. Auroura NY 14052, 716-652-7086. These are the people that have renegged on a sales agreement with me. This is what went down from my side. I called and inquired about NOS wheel well moldings for my 1st Gen. I was told that 3 were avaliable, both front and the rt rear. I agreed to the selling price of 200.00 plus shipping. I called last Sat to confirm the order and was told that I was not getting what I had ordered because I was responsible for the price being too low and responsible for not revealing the widely known fact that the rear wheel well moldings are difficult to find NOS. I asked that they honor their commitment to me for 3 moldings, just as my commitment to them of accepting the selling price. They refused to do so. I asked why and the above stated reasons were the answer I got again today, so I cancelled the order. I was also told that I can do nothing to hurt them at all since their reputation is secure. OK, but I will tell this story on several websites over the next month or so to alert anyone that reads this to the extermely poor customer service and arrogant attitude that I encountered. I do not want to badmouth anyone as a matter of routine, however I find their actions unacceptable. I told them that I was going to do this and they told me to go ahead and waste my time if I chose to. So, I am doing just that.

Tom,
If you have their e-mail address I'd make sure I show them how much time your wasting by sending them a link to this thread, "just for good measures". I think that sux. Not much "specialties" if they dont even know the value of their own parts. Thanks for the heads up... Camaro Specialties :box2:

Tom if I were you I would tell my story over at Lateral-G and over at Camaros.net also. Camaros.net might be a little dicey, they have a moderator over there (DJD) that's a bit of a forum nazi and a sensational kiss ass when it comes to the vendors he likes. You just have to hope Camaro Specialties is not one of them or he'll delete your thread. But you really need to spread it around a bit. Jump over to Z28.com and I'm sure there's a few others.
This is the dawn of the Internet. From here on out, any business that gives bad customer service or jerks it's customers around and treats them like sh*t must suffer the ultimate demise; Death By Message Board.

Just tell Dennis in a PM that I sent you there to do it. I know him personally, and you can tell him to talk to me about it if you want. But I'd spread it around as much as possible.

This is great, we just condemned a business whithout even hearing any of their side of the story. Who's next? :secret:
OK so you call XYZ Auto parts and lay down $200. $300. say even a $1000 bucks with them for parts yopu want and need.
A few days later you call back and ask if the parts are shipped, shipping and basicly get told screw you we mispriced the part you need,,, we want double, triple or aint gonna sell you the part. But we will give you 2 or 3 of the 4 parts you actually agreed to pay for. So thier verbal contract means NOTHING, and you got some of the parts you saved for ratherthan all the parts you requested.
I can pretty much guarantee that if you "bought" 4 pieces for $XXX but they are going to keep your $XXX dollars and only give you 2 or 3 pieces.
That is theft, dishonesty, and just plain wrong.
Most of us would be in court or in jail for that. These people still sell parts, rip off others and keep making cash.
NOW if this happens to me I am gonna tell EVERYONE that I got ripped off.
DONE DEAL THEY DONT GET ANYMORE OF MY CASH AND AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN STEER AWAY FROM THIER BUISNESS IS MY PUNISHMENT FOR BEING CHEATED,LIED TO AND RIPPED OFF.
If you have buisness and do good work someone MAY tell friends, family, and anyone else that you do good work.
BUT if you rip me, steal from me, lie to me, well then you are gonna get the jungle grapevine advertizement to not be trusted and your dishonest.
Do good and someone will tell 1 or 2. Do BAD work and they will tell everybody.
And from what I have read several have had bad dealings.
NOW if this guy had got his parts (even at them taking a loss) and they explained that they messed up, maybe offered to split the difference (so as to not take such a loss) and a hand full of buisness cards this guy would tell a lot of people if asked.
They made thier bed now they get to lay in it.
