im wondeirng what the rates are on the 3 inch DSE leaf springs. and whats a good front spring rate to go with?

They are about 175#. A good balanced match would be a 600 to 650 front... but it really depends on what you are running for an engine/transmisson package, or if you have moved some weight around on the front end.

i have a big block and a six speed. i wont be racing it but want it to handle awesome on the street. i think someone said that the hotchkis springs were 175# also and someone told me to go with a 250-275# spring. i think the global west springs are stiffer but they are not going to give me near the drop i need. i really dont know what to do right now. i want the higher rate i thik but dont know what to do about ride height.

Your rear rate will depend on your front rate.

So far, with what you have stated... a 650 front is the lightest you would want to go. I then would run a 225 to a 250 rear... depending on the torque production of the engine, a few other chassis related things and what you really want to do with this car on a daily basis.

No one is going to give you an off the shelf 225 to 275, that is for sure. I however can.....
