I was in another forum and where they were discussing hyadraboost, etc. One of the guys took a hydra boost unit and master from a truck in a salvage yard and put it in his corvette and others have used them in other applications. Is this a safe way to save money on a hydraboost unit. Or is this not a good way to go.

I have heard that the costs saved doesnt outweigh the work and modifications involved in doing the adaptation yourself. But I am sure it can be done. Sorry I dont know much more than that. I will say that Paul at Hydratech is one of the best, if not best, customer service oriented people I have ever dealt with. He is first class. I encourage you to talk to him. I had my hydroboost installed in just a few hours of work! You wont be doing that with a junkyard piece. Best of luck!

Ditto what 73z-6sp said, I'm in the process of putting one of Paul's units on my '67 Firebird.

Truck units are designed to stop trucks. If you want a junkyard unit, look for one out of a later Mustang. Carl C used one and works great. Or if you want to go for a bolt in Hydratech unit, we can hook you up.

I am with Mike. truck units are designed to stop 6000LB trucks carrying loads with GVWR of 10,000 or more and are hyper sensitive in 3500 cars.

....and Frank is remiss in noting that you can save $50 by buying the Hydratech unit through the GP Superstore like I did.

I just wanted to add...I finally got to drive my Chevelle today after 4.5 months of working on it. The hydroboost is awesome! It will stop my Chevelle better than the Baer 4 wheel discs will stop my 68 Camaro! Thats not right! But Im happy as a pig in poo I can say that! Go Hydratech man! You wont be sorry.

I am in agreement with the others....the Hydraboost from Paul is a very nice piece and worth the price...doubt you can pick up one from the junk yard that will look or function as well as his. Plus, Paul is a great guy to talk to and very knowledgable about his product.
