Well its getting close now. We finally set the engine (383 stroker) and trans (turbo 350) in the car (69 Camaro). I did run into a snafu though. There are only two crossmembers listed in every catalogue I have for this car. One is for the Powerglide, fourspeed and 350, and the other is for a turbo 400. I ordered the correct one and the trans mount and the holes in the crossmember do not line up. The trans mount is about an inch and a half longer (toward the rear end) then the holes in the crossmember. This car was originally a six cylinder car but I don't think that would be an issue. The holes in the subframe should be in the same place either way. Not wanting to pull everthing out at this point, do you think making a bracket that mounts the crossmember to the trans mount would be alright? It lines up fine side to side and the holes are parallel to each other. The bracket would have four holes in it and would simply be to span the inch and a half gap. Has anyone else run into this problem? KB

Fabbing up a bracket should not be an issue, but something is definitely wrong here. You should not have fitment issues. The crossmember holes should line up (assumming it is the correct one). I would double check your frame mounts. How is the distibutor to firewall clearance? If you are 1 1/2 inches back, I would expect you to have distributor clearance issues.
You could always drill new holes in the subframe as well, but something is fishy.
Do you have an Assembly Manual?

Boy do I have egg on my face. My frame mounts were on wrong. Silly me, when I installed the frame mounts I had them switched. When I changed them the clearance prolem dissapeared. However, I did have to cut 1/2 " off of one side of the trans crossmember becuase I ran a deep aluminum pan and it touched the crossmember. Thanks for the feedback.
