Tell us what you have, how many miles, damage if any, where you got it, and how much!:usa:

I'm shopping latemodel F-bodies (Salvage) and I'm trying to get a feel for the market.

Input from other make and model owners is also appreciated....Oh, and photos too!

I saw when you posted that before and you inspired me to post this thread. That was a serious steal! :headbang:

Anyone else getting deals this good?

For 98-02 LS1 F-bodies, I've seen crashed donor cars (non-repairable) in the $3000-5000 range for a couple years now. Pretty damn good price considering you can sell almost everything on the car that you don't use and probably pay for the thing. If you find one with a 6-speed, that is a bonus. The 4L60e automatics aren't worth much on the used market, but people will buy the T56 if you don't use it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm feeling good about this purchase right now. I'll provide a full report on its real condition when it comes in from Colorado. It was a blind insurance auction, so the motor could be blown and the interior full of mold. It was a bit of a gamble. Hopefully everything is good outside of the obvious.

We picked up a 96 Z/28 with LT1 / 6-speed that had an engine compartment fire for $2200. The body, frame, suspension is all good - several body panels and the wiring is shot, however. The car is going to a fabricator friend who will use it as the basis for a race car build for a customer. Motor used as a spare for a race car, and the trans is destined for my 69 Camaro - lucky me it has a brand new CF clutch and hurst shifter, and I will use the rear brakes on my race car and probably use a few other parts here and there either for our race cars or street cars.

We are selling off whatever we can, and should get the car for under $1K net. Making it basically a free body and a very cheap trans / motor. Car was original owner and had 80K miles.

Not sure if you are still in the market on this, but here is a local car off a local board for sale.

Last month I paid $4000 for a 99 Z28 LS1/T56 80k mile T-Top car with a bad RH quarter panel, cracked RH door and 1 missing mirror. Front clip, interior & mechanicals are good. Gray cloth power seats in very good shape, the interior is in good shape, runs & shifts great. I think I got a good deal, not super great, but I am happy.

The T56 & aluminum drive shaft are slated to go in my 77 Z28 next winter. Most of the other parts I am keeping (LS1, rear brakes, etc) will end up in my 67RS (aka project Pro-Cruiser :smoke:). More details on that at a later date.

I figure I can sell off $1000-$1500 in parts, maybe more if I am aggressive. The whole front clip is a big draw to the LT1 guys. It appears you can convert a hard top car to t-tops, so the t-top parts have some value. The rear will go too, minus the brakes for the 67. Plus what ever else I peel off & list up.

i just picked up a 98 formula this weekend for $3000.car has 120,xxx miles but the motor has 54,xxx miles and the tranny has about 25,xxx miles(4l60e though).
hopefully with the money i make parting out the rest of what i don't use,i'll have enough money for the 6 speed.
