Ok guys, I need solid advice on suspension for my 71 Nova. First the basics.
Budget: $2000 - $2200. This includes springs, shocks, sway bars, bushings, body bushings, and control arms. I already have a new AGR 12.7:1 power steering box. It does not include the cost of installing new spring perches and correcting the driveline angle or rehabbing the front subframe.
Objective: A D-Stock to C-Stock competitive car. I like the ride characteristics of Mercedes AMGs and BMW sport suspension cars. I would like the car to set level or near level with the front fender openings setting even with the tires. I plan to run a 235/45-17 front tire and a 275/40-17 or 255/45-17 rear tire.
Drive train 355 HP (possibly upgrade to 400 HP) small block with four or five speed and 3.73 axle. I have aluminum heads and manifold if that impacts springs.
Current Situation: Very tired suspension, bent leafs, blown shocks, you get the picture. The tie rods, drag link, and ball joints are in good shape. Bolt in subframe connecters are installed, but I may switch to weld-in connectors
I’m strongly leaning towards a Global West stage 3 setup or Hotchkis TVS and go with the GW upper control arms. I’m not sure of the ride harshness of the del-a-lum bushings and if I use them, should I use urethane body bushing to control harshness. I’m also leaning towards the Bilstien or Koni shocks. I like the Konis because they are adjustable, but the Bilstiens cost less.
