Are you talking about the subframe or the full frame? The sub is posted above and the full frame is basically done.

This is the start of the chassis. Note that the rear rails are duplicates of the OE rear subframe and are designed to fit under the trunk sheetmetal. The front is the same kick at what we have on our subframe. We are going to be adding front body mounts, bumper mounts and engine and trans mounts. This will eliminate quite a bit of the fab work that is required. As far as floor mods go, you will still have to go with a flat floor, but that has been reduced a bit as well... What we have had customers do is save the OE trans tunnnel/driveshaft tunnel and use that with the new floor. This chassis also features our new dropped arm C5 front suspension and 3-link rear suspension.

Very nice... where was this 13 years ago when I was cutting out unibody frame rails and fabing 2x4 box tubing for my 68's full frame. Now you have me reconsidering my approach for the '69 project I'm working on. When will you have cost info? -Dan

That looks great!!!! So you say a custom floor is needed when using that? Will the frame fit the 335's out back and something such as a 275 or wider in the front?

To answer a few questions-

We've done quite a few of the first gen Camaros with our current MaxG platform but like I said, the one pictured above is brand new.

275's / 335's definitely won't be a problem

Price- its difficult to say because of options. But the "as pictured" price for the above chassis is around 10k.

Craig- How is the front end setup? Did you modify the hub-to-hub width from the c5 specs to allow use of more normal backspace rims, or does it require corvette type backspace rims? That was always one of my pet-peeves on the c4 type front ends- great idea but they ended up with flat face rims on the front and normal backspaced rims on the rear.

Also, if you did adjust the track width, how's the geometry? Street good or road race good? thanks- Dan

I would be estatic if I could afford the frond subframe

I'll go ahead and answer this. The hub to hub on our Camaro-spec front ends is 60.5" to make wheels more affordable, just adjust your backspace by 1/4" to make 'em fit (60" is stock). This does increase the scrub slightly, but is a good thing in this case. It has just enough scrub to give a little feedback to the driver.

We didn't just take the C5 geometry and narrow the hub track, we modified the geometry to better fit the cars it will be installed on...frankly, it's better than stock C5. Like you said, it's road race good. This subframe combined with a well-thought out rear suspension and tires will scare the crap out the guy in the passenger seat.:headbang:

I fully realize that I am probably exposing my lack of knowledge about chassis fitment, but would this full frame work on a second gen camaro/firebird as well?

I realize that they have different frames from the factory, however they have similar dimensions, and this frame requires custom floor pans anyways, so would it work, or am I missing something here?

Well, we're kinda talking about two different frames here. First is our first gen bolt-in subframe, which obviously requires no mods for installation. Bolt on and go.

Second, is the Max-G platform. This is a full-frame, weld-in, all-out performance setup. This type of frame can be had for just about any car - in fact, I just designed one for a '56 Buick...so a second gen is no problem. It uses the same suspension as our GT Sport subframe, but includes your choice of rear suspensions (3-link, triangulated 4-bar, etc).

But hold on, a 2nd gen bolt-in subframe may be in the works.

Great ! ... they should have a set if single adjustables up there any time for the fronts. The rear should be a piece of cake with a 7000. Craig or Silver.... do you remember your rough ride height measurement on the rear coil over? and are you using a bearing on the coil overs as well?

That's absolutely beautiful. Maybe this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere...

How much does that chassis weigh as pictured above (with all the suspension pieces shown)?

Thanks

This frame that's pictured will be our display chassis at the Goodguys shows that we go to. I'll see if I can't a weight before we dress it out.

very nice clean work Carig. I really like the layout of the framerails and the use of the exhaust cut outs, very badass nice tucked away look for the exhaust. Is this thing MIG or TIG welded, and what material are you using for the arms in front? Are those the ATS spindles? What kind of heims are you using in the rear? And the final question, do you offer a full caged version?
