I have a problem and I don't know if it's typical for these guys or exactly what's going on.
I own a set od Boyd Coddinton Smoothie rims, the center cap or plug they use has a colorful logo "tin" tag in the center. Well after about 2 years the tags started to peel off on a couple of the wheels, so I contacted Newstalgia Wheel where I bought them from and they did want I expected them to do, quote me a price for new ones, which after two years I figured they would do. That's cool.
So I thanked them and decided to email someone at Boyd Coddinton.
The same day I get an email from a Greg Coddinton saying send them to me and I'll replace them FREE.
Sounds great, so on December 18,2006 I ship them out, send an email saying they went out. And wait.
I figure with the holidays and new year it could be a while.
So on the 4th of January, I email to ask if they were recieved. Get a response yes, and that the new ones would go out that week.
Well, long story, short...I still don't have them!
Greg has stop returning my numerous emails and I even left him a voice mail.
In one email he claimed they went out, and he'd get the UPS tracking info. Never got back to me.
Then following yet another email, he said he need my shipping address to look it up. I gave it. No response, no tracking number.
I tried UPS and they won't do anything without a tracking number.
I'm thinking I should have paid Newstalgia the $100 and been done with it.
Has anybody else had promblems with Boyd Coddington's Shop?
Any ideas what I should do next?
I even emailed him to ship my old ones back C.O.D.!
Thanks for your help, guys.:ripped:

Those caps were not very nice. I had billet replacement ones made from my Blaster Boyd wheels. I might have ONE extra one with the Boyd logo on it if you need it. I will look in my garage tonight.. maybe I will have all four.

Do these guys have a reputation for working like this?
It started out sounding great. I wish if for some reason he was unable to come thru, he just come right out and say it.

I thought they sold off their wheel shop....

Maybe that's the problem, everyone's lost in the shuffle.
As for the show, I was hoping most of that stuff was for the cameras.
The guy at Newstalgia said he had them.
I guess I bought his bull about "being a company of car guys that know the little things matter", hook line and sinker!!!:banghead:

I thought they sold off their wheel shop....They did. I tried to get my school's SME, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, group for a visit last semester and we missed them by a few weeks.

So does any body know who "owns" them now?
You can still access wheels through the Boyd website.

The wheel division has been sold to American Racing, I believe. I have to be honest with you, I like your post about telling them to send them back COD as is! I would have vinyl stickers made with your own logo for the centers at this point, actually I would have done that in the first place. Good luck!:fingersx:

Ok, so I just got off the phone, I got through to Greg and I asked where my caps went to.
He said UPS said the were "non-deliveried"
Has anybody ever heard of that?
So I asked what I needed to do to get another set coming.
Get this he said "I just need to ship them out!"
So I asked him when that would happen. He put me on hold for a minute came back and asked me for my shipping info again!!!
I gave it to him and asked him to email the tracking number to me and asked if he still had my email address.
He said yes. I should had asked him to verify it.:banghead:
So the saga continues!!!!

Good luck, no wonder they sold that part of the business! I hope they did not send his ex-wife along with the deal!

an investment banking group bought American, B. Coddington (Wheel division), and then Weld Wheels. Boyd Jr. had left B. Coddington (I heard the corp. was in his name) and went to work at Weld Wheels a couple Years ago. He and Sr. had some kind of rift. I think the show is more of a reality one than we would like to believe...AFU...

Gregg is an azz..had issues with the boyds wheels I got, they wouldnt fit over the hub on 3 fifferent cars, so I had to remachine the center hole. throw the wheel is the dumpster and start over...will be less painfull than having to talk to those loosers.

I'm telling you guys.. you just need to mill some new caps. I have a prototype cap here. Solid billet (not cast).. no crappy sticker advertisement..
Anyone here have a CNC and want to duplicate them? I'm sure there could easily be sold to every guy who has bought a set of Boyd wheels.. lol

I originally bought from Newstalgia, those guys treated me great, from the start to finish, even called around trying to locate a set of American Racing wheels they didn't have in stock, that were my first choice.
The Smoothies fit ok, looked ok, till the "cheap" cap started to look like crap.
I would buy from Newstalgia for sure....but Boyd Coddington....never again.
The whole thing just sucks.
I have dealt with a lot of good companies and people, then you run in to one jerk and it kinda puts a damper on the enthusiasm towards the hobby. I hate feeling like I got screwed by other car guys.
The Government...ahh... what are you going to do?
But car guys???
I guess I now know were not to send my hard earned money.:hammer:

Cool deal.. PM me the best address to send it to. You should offer them for sale once you get the program done. They are SO MUCH better than the ones that come with the wheels.
They use the O-Ring from the factory caps. When I got my Blasters I was shocked at how cheap the centercaps were and the glued on sticker was even croocked. These caps made the wheels look a 100% better.
With the custom caps:
