Is there a simple way to relocate your brake booster/master cylinder for a clean firewall, or do I have to spring $500-$1000 for one of these: http://www.ecihotrodbrakes.com/remote_booster.html ?

A lot of pro touring cars are manual brakes and so many who relocate off of the firewall are not going power which makes it somewhat easier IMO.

I thought I had heard that manual brakes are very unreliable. That doesn't seem right though if Pro Touring guys are using them. What gives?

Not sure who would tell you they are unreliable? The only difference in manual versus vacum assisted power brakes is the vacum canister which is just one more working part. The more parts the more chance for something to fail.
Many PTers run manual brakes because of better pedal feel for running on the track. With the right setup and bore size braking effort can be much better.
