Hello all:

Take a look at this pic of the lower control arm off a 1971 Firebird. It appears to have been notched, possibly to make room for a header tube???

Will this degrade the structure of the arm enough that I should replace it?

Thanks, Rick

seems alittle on the shady side to me. not only has it had over 30 years of hard use but that notch looks to be on a stressed part of the arm. I'd raplace it.

or at least do a quality repair

I think the control arms changed in '70. I wouldn't reuse a piece like that on my car.

It almost looks broken. I'd toss it.

Ditto....that cut has weakened that arm substantially.

Thanks for the tips folks. I have a set from an '81 T/A that I will use.
