got any cheap parts for the engine ,let me know.
Thinking about a set of gt40p heads with a steath intake and a road demond carb. already has headers and a nice 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust. need to get this thing going ,i think the first order of business is to get some real wheels and tires..lol

Welcome! I would think a nice Mustang GT engine, complete with FI and a 5-speed would be a pretty nice and inexpensive set up.

Yeah, no kidding! Just when I was planning out my new shed, so I can actually get into the garage to work, it turns cold as hell and snows.

Welcome aboard, nice car. I'm just up 95 in Alexandria. My buddy in high school had the same car. Brings back memories.
Good luck.

you can't call it a "project" when its that nice ;-)
great looking car. of course, I'm going to try to convince you to put an FE in
that car:

parts are a problem (most people believe Ford only made mustangs); I have some experience
about fitting mustang parts to intermediates:

well I know where there is a complete 390 68 galaxie fastback rotting in this guys yard he wants 350 for the whole car. But i am convince this small block will make a much better handling car.

from:
http://raceabilene.com/kelly/hotrod/engine.html
351W = 525lb
ford fe = 625 lb
429/460 = 720 lb
not sure how they're computed (fully dressed?), but presumably the #'s are
consistent if not accurate (i.e., 100lb diff between each entry).
here is another page w/ slightly diff values, but still close:
http://www.241computers.com/ford/ContentExpress20-30-38.html
according to that URL an FE weighs only 75lbs more than a SBC. Most people don't know that.
The knock on 390s has always been they can't breath. Inexpensive Edelbrock heads now
insures everyone can have CJ performance. If you want to get into strokers, FEs will take
a 4.25" crank w/o machine work.
here is a page w/ a 427W vs. 428Fe test:
http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/127_0409_427w_vs_428_fe_test/
on the street, its hard to go wrong w/ easy big block torque.
end of FE advertisement. ;-)
congrats on a fine torino.
