I like a great guitarist. Stevie Ray, Clapton, Duane Allman, Kenny Wayne, Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Brian Setzer and of course great bands - Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, basically the blues, Southern Rock and anything else incredible from the 60's-70's.

Music today sucks. It's all about the nookie and dancing. I like music that tells stories and can be appreciated for the musical abilities of the players without needing computer enhancements.

Josh...sounds like you need to join the satellite radio movement. Since I did about 2 years ago, my friends and I have discovered a whole plethora of bands that terrestrial radio won't play because the band members might be older or aren't pretty enough for the major labels. Some of the great bands I have discovered and am now addicted to are; Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Built To Spill, The New Pornographers, Death Cab For Cutie, Gomez, Modest Mouse, The Twilight Singers, Beta Band....I could go on and on and on. I don't ever listen to terrestrial radio anymore unless it's Sports Radio or I'm listening to a football, basketball, or hockey game. Josh if you're into southern rock/zeppelin stuff, definitely check out My Morning Jacket. Those guys are absolutely amazing. Wilco brings down the house too. I've seen them in concert 3 times already in the past 2 years and they are by far one of my all-time favorite bands now.

Thanks! I always thought I was born 15 years too soon. I guess hacking away on a computer all day (i am a programmer) has soured my taste of technology and most things modern. I like things that are from when our culture was really coming into it's own, developing its own style. Old cars, music, etc...

I have been debating Satellite for a while now. I live 45 minutes from work and no one plays music in the mornign anymore. Only annoying morning zoo shows. Death Cab for Cutie is almost bordering on mainstream. Some of the mainstream rock stations have been playing them for a while.

I like My Morning Jacket. I always thought they sounded like cross between The Greatfull Dead and Pink Floyd. Very mello and easy to listen to.

On the obscurity scale, this album has to be towards the top, but what a great album it is. Some of you might be interested in it. You can't buy it anymore (that I know of), except used on Amazon:

Great list there. I'm a huge fan of The Clash. "London Calling" is probably the greatest rock record in history. I got a lot of that old-school hardcore on my Ipod too. Negative Approach, Necros, Minor Threat, UK Subs, 7 Seconds, SS Decontrol. I still love all that stuff.

I picked up a Siruis a few years ago and haven't looked back since. The diversity of the music played on the satellite is unreal. Bands I've picked up lately... Non-Point, Wolfmother, Priestess, 311, Ill Scarlet the list goes on... On the Canadian side we've got Colin James, Tragically Hip, Big Sugar, Nickleback, Theory of a Deadman, local boys Murder City Sparrows... and if you like good guitar pickin look into Grady. Gordie Johnson used to be the frontman for Big Sugar. Now he's playing outta Austin Texas and makes some killer stuff.... Check it all out guys...

Im also a big 6-stringer fan, and even though I had several of his CDs, I didnt fully appreciate his talent til a friend gave me a couple of his concerts to watch, one of which features Albert Collins and Albert King (I think it was filmed in the late 80s or early 90s). He is quite amazing, to say the least....

Just read yesterday that Van Halen is re-uniting with THE FRONTMAN to end all frontmen, David Lee Roth, for a 40 date tour. The reunion won't include however, Michael Anthony. It looks like Eddie's son, Wolfgang, will fill in on bass. I'll miss MIchael Anthony and his axe, but :headbang: WOOHOO! It's about EFFIN' time!!!
