info on Kansas City MO area

Hey guys, more of a lurker than a regular poster here as my car is in the extremely slow "being away at college and having no money" mode.

But, tomorrow I should be getting an offer for an internship in KC and was just looking for more info on the area (living, etc..) from anyone that knows it/lives there.

I am 3 1/2 hours south of there in Springfield, and it is a nice place if you are away from da hood! Fairly low cost of living, nice people, ALL climates, Goodguys show in the fall, a couple rat rod shows thru the year, Nascar track, not too good of a dragstrip, but there is one, and the CHIEFS. I know they will never make it to the bowl again, but they do always make the playoffs!

you plan on being in KC itself? my girl is in Lawrence KS. (4 hours away) I'm up there at least once or twice a month....have friends in Olathe and Overland Park also....don't know a whole lot about the City itself but could possibly find more out for you

We live in Lees Summit, southeast corner suburb of the city, very nice place to live. We moved from West Bloomfield, MI and would never move back now. KC area has it all, downtown scene, plaza scene, BBQ, Jazz and so much more. You get the big city feel, but without all the hassle and traffic.

I was going thru Prospect (by accident!) one day on the power tour in the Camaro. It was only 5:00pm & 95*! We rolled the windows up (tinted) and baked and hoped that it would not break down. Needless to say, every eye was on us!

Jimmy's right the Plaza is cool. Great eats, great drinks and it's fun to people watch down there. I live near Columbia, in the middle of the state on I-70. Missouri has a lot to offer, I used to live in Wisconsin and forgot what winter was until this year. Damn the ice.....

I'm in Independence burb on the east side lived here all my life. I used to work @35th and prospect. 5pm came and it was get out of dodge. The locals all come out at night and disappear during the day.

Used to live in North KC/Gladstone and work in Overland Park for awhile before I moved to Bay Area, CA. All I can say is I don't miss that frickin ridiculous humidity!
But yeah a nice mid-sized midwestern city generally with nice people and quite a bit to offer.

I've got a brother-in-law that transferred to KC from STL to work at Ford's assembly plant. Says he loves it.
