i am getting a 4160 600 cfm vacuum secondary holley, but i plan on making hard turns and i think i heard of carbs running dry or splashing out creating a poss. fire hazard.

do any of you run this carb or ever had any of these problems?

one shop guy told me something about changing to marine floats or something like that.

The Marine Carb has the curved bowl vents to keep the fuel from splashing out in rough waters.Which made the engine run rough without them. Spilling in the carb.I Think that was the only differance beside jetting and power valves.

The biggest thing would be does it have the side hung or center hung floats. The center hung are better for cornering. The come standard on many Holleys, and all the performance ones.

According to the Holley web page...

All Holley Marine Carburetors are designed to meet Coast Guard specifications. A marine Carburetor's fuel metering system is calibrated to compensate for unique engine loads found on boats. The J–style vent tubes direct spilt fuel/fumes back into the Carburetor for safe operation while on rough waters.

Hope this helps.
