My opinion: FE motors suck!!

Sorry, I have no other info than to tell you I hate them. I rebuilt one and never want anything else to do with them.

OK ! I´ve heard that from other guys too.
He talks about replacing the engine in the future.
Something more modern. 400-500HP. The car will be driven mostely on the street.
Any ideas what to look for?
Any suggestions ? :hmm:

Thanks.

i have always liked Windsor Strokers or go for a 427-429. Anything outside the FE family requires some modification to fit. I know FERD racing has some cool crate engines.

I've always liked FE's - absolute tanks. The crank is recessed into the block so it would take an act of god to hurt it

For something big n' heavy like a 63 Galaxie its a great motor.

This guy has some really cool stuff for Galaxies.

Rack and pinion steering, engine swap parts etc. We had a '64 Galaxie wagon with a 390. All in all it was pretty much a big heavy gas hog. Most people I talked to about them say that they are impossible to keep sealed up. Everyone that I've ever seen leaked oil.

I think a modern 4.6 or 5.4 mod motor would be sweet. If he's going for 500hp - supercharge it. Find a Lightning motor and your almost there.

Just my $.02 Love that body style Galaxie by the way!
