Bob Johnson's black Camaro was built by Alan Johnson (Johnsons Hot Rod Shop, Gadsden, AL). Another member of this board currently owns it still I believe, and yes, I also agree that it was bad ass.

This car is owned by Bobby Johnson out of Dallas, GA. not Bob Johnson out of Alabama. Bobby has been building these types of vehicles for years out of his garage at his house.
Bobby is one of the founding fathers of today's Outlaw 10.5 movement and is still responsible for a good number of very fast Outlaw 10.5, Limited Street and EZ Street cars that run throughout the south.
Bobby is also responsible for a great number of extremely well engineered street vehicles that get little or no mention -- or should I say Bobby is not one to "toot" his own horn. He is very low key, very approachable and extremely well connected in the street car arena.

Look for a article on this car in a magazine very soon. I talked with Bob at B/J and one is in the works. Also it is in the current PHR.
Bob is a great guy and builds some killer pieces. Congrats on the coverage Bob.

I think you'll find that Bob Johnson also resides in Georgia, not Alabama, and in Alabama you might find Alan Johnson the hot rod builder not Alan Johnson the Top Fuel crew chief.
That's enough Johnsons for one day.

Yes I [Doug Cooper] still own "Battle Axe" and you did see Alan hangin out and wiping down Bob Johnson's {Aka "The Real"} '69 camaro. The car was shipped to Sema on the same hauler as the Cuda and neither Bob Johnson was around to take car of their cars so Alan made sure they were in good spots and cleaned. Also, Thanks For the compliment!

Bobby is quiet as a church mouse but he can and has really built some wicked cars over the years. He does the bulk of the work himself. Good guy too.

Aren't those wheels made by Colorado Customs for Jojnson's, also are they available with some custom mods like an exposed bolt on mount and a round flattened cap instaid of the spinner like a budnik centre cap?

We had a set of big hex nuts we were looking at using in lieu of the knock offs but I liked the look of the knock offs best. Bobby wanted bolt ons for some reason...I think he was afraid of the knock offs..Colorado can make them several ways...
