fuel fittings AN NPT and ?

hi, i was figuring out how to put my fuel line together from fuel pump to carb. so far i bought a bunch of pieces i don't need. i'm having trouble with the fuel pump. it's stock and it was using a 3/8" line to rubber hose, to filter, to hose to carb.

i was wondering what size fitting was on the fuel pump. i foolishly ordered some -6 an to 3/8" fittings but now i realize the 3/8" npt male doesn't fit in the fuel pump outlet.

i wanted something simple but it's now a disaster. i initially wanted to bend a hardline from pump to filter using russels aluminum line, with -6AN sleeves, one connecting to a coupler that could mate the -6AN to the fuel pump outlet and the other connecting to the male -6AN end of earl's fuel filter. then adding a fuel pressure gauge adapter on the back of the filter to the russell fuel line/banjo -6AN female fitting made for edelbrock performer carbs. - well those are the parts i have.

any suggestions? i probably made it too complicated

mech fuel pump? Edelelbrock pumps use 3/8 pipe (NPT) threads

Is yours a 3/8 inverted flare? You can get o ring to an adapters from summit, jegs and others to plumb using an hardware

My Carter is also 3/8-NPT.

Find out what the pump outlet is and let's go from there.

most stock pumps use an inverted flare fitting, which is available from most any of the AN suppliers. It is not the same as NPT though as you found out; the inverted flare seals on the flare itself, not the threads like an NPT fitting.

yes i believe my stock pump is inverted. but i was considering replacing the pump soon. for now i have 3/8" brake line and hose installed. i think i'm going to stay with this poor set up until i tune my engine correctly. then i'm going to replace the tank, line and pump.

but with carter pump i should be able to use my 3/8 npt adapters, right?
