100 microns=.100 mm

40 microns is a smaller particle than a 100 micron particle. Usually as the micron size gets smaller the amount of particles per million goes up. That is how I read my lube oil samples at work. If you are talking filters anything 40 and above will be trapped in the media.

Then why is a 40 micron billet summit filter about half the price as a 100 micron filter? Seems to me like it would be the other way around. Would 40 micron be OK for fuel injected?

100 micron is generally used for a pre-filter in front of the pump. Most filters after the pump are in the 10-40 micron range.

My pump is in the tank. It is a factory Buick GN setup. So I will just get the Summit 40 micron in line unit.
