1970 Mustang suspension

I am currently pro-touring my cousins 1970 mustang coupe and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what would be best to use for the rear suspension. Really want to get away from the stock leafs.any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Josh

In the front you can go with a MCphearson setup. I saw a 67 on the DIY channel that received a mcpherson setup and looked sweet.

For the rear I have no idea what to tell you.

Alston/TCP has a new 4 bar/coilover setup for `64-`73 Stangs (and 1st gen Camaros) called G-Bar. It`s basically the coilover version of the AirBar suspension they designed for ART. It mounts on a tubular structure that bolts onto mostly existing holes and braces up the unibody. Only 2 brackets need to be welded to the axle tubes and the assy. is self jigging so it couldn`t be much easier. I saw the Camaro version (which is very similar in concept) installed at the SEMA H&R show in like 48mins.! It`s only $1599,with the adj. aluminum coilovers and springs. That`s hard to beat.
If you want to get really radical they also have a TCP torque arm setup with watts link, and indy style pushrod activated laydown coilovers. That setup`s about $4700 so it`s not for everyone. What are you looking to do? Road race, drag race, street cruising, autox, etc. A good option for one might not make sense for another.

Do you plan on mini-tubbing the car? If so, one of the areas that you need to look at as far as how wide a tire you can tuck under the car is where the lower links hook up: most kits on the market use the forward mounting area for the leaf springs, because it's convenient. Doing so, however, limits how much tire you can tuck under. We had a customer that is radically tubbing/stuffing tire under these cars, and it turned out that our rear setup fit the bill perfectly for that application. We don't have our Mustang version currently available for commercial sale, but will at some point in the near future, in fact we already have a donor car to finish the engineering on in our shop. We wanted to provide an update on the Vintage Three Link Suspension for the Mustangs.

We are basically done with the design and are just preparing the drawings for our production prototype. We should have everything out in the next few weeks for the production prototype.

The EvM complete Three Link rear suspension for the vintage Mustangs (1965-1973) will incorporate a Frame mounted Watts Link lower control arms, an upper link, rear adjustable stabilizer bar and a bell crank driven coil-over system. The systems will be 99% bolt-in and will not require any modifications to the vehicle structure, beyond a few drilled holes. All systems will have an aluminum link upgrade option and will be available in various “kit” forms.
