Just wanted to take minute and introduce myself. I am new to the board (obviously) and my project is a '68 Camaro SS Convertible with a custom full frame, 6 point cage and mini tubs. I have been involved in this project for 6 years now and will finally wrap it up this Spring. The car is being built at KRS in Marlborough Massachusetts by a budy of mine (golden hands) Pete Bachand. Some of the details are as follows: the front susp is a modified Chris Alston's front clip w/ tubular control arms, QA1 coil overs and rack-n-pinion steering. Rear susp is by Global West, again w/ QA1 shocks and a Currie heavy duty narrowed 9" rear. Brakes are Wilwood 6 pistons up front on Corvette 13" rotors and Wilwood 4 pistons out back on 11 3/4" rotors. Drivetrain is a 500 hp 383 stroker matched w/ a Tremec 6 spd. Wheels and tires are American Racing Torqe Thrust IIs; 17x8 up front dressed in Yokohama AVS sport 245/55/17 rubber & 17x11s out back wearing 315/35/17s. The tires have been custom smoothed and had red lines vulcanized onto them for that retro '60s look (my avatar). About 98% of the car is custom fabbed and it is beig build to be a driver. If you are interested in more pics that what I have uploaded here you can vistit www.hmdmotorsports.com (http://www.hmdmotorsports.com) (my personal webiste) and check out the Camaro's pages.

Glad to be a member and look forward to some cool discussion.

Thanks Paul. I appreciate the welcome. I was looking at some other newbie posts and they put up some pics so I figured I would as well.

I painted the wheels myself. Gave me more control over the color I was looking for. Here are a few shots of the wheels & tires:

I don't mind giving up the color, just don't laugh. It is Rustoleum Antique Bronze. As far as back spacing goes, the front are standard 17x8 American Racing Torque thrust IIs w/ 4" backspacing but the backs are custom ordered 17x11s w/ 6" of backspacing.

Ok, work is started on the console so I thought I would share a few pics. It has 3 cupholders (2 in front and 1 in the back), holds all of the switches for the fuel systems, the NOS (arming switch and bottle opener), line locks and the electric fan override. It also has another compartment for the Ipod interface. When it is complete it will be wrapped in black vinyl to match the interior.

Welcome,

I really like the red lines. We looked at doing that on one of our cars but in the rendering it looked overly enjeweled, but your looks great.

Ben,

I live in Shrewsbury. Do you ever attend the Summer Nationals? I will be there with the car this year.

Howdy neighbor! Yeah, I'll be there with a booth this time. I'll have a local car unveiling there as a feature as far as I know. Be sure to swing by!

i've been loving the wheels and the color on this one for a while, but now I just looked thru the picture album and man...I really like this one, I think the stripe and number on the hood looks very cool. I really can't wait to see more of this.

I haven't been up to the Super Chevy show at Epping but I am hoping to get up there this year. One of my buddys brings his yellow '70 pro-street Camaro up to drag it every year. You should try to make it down of the Nationals. Don't just try to make it to the park for the show though, you really need to experience dowtown Worcester at night when they close main street and hold the burnout contests. Neve mind all of the booze, bands and cars.

Downtown's getting pretty trashy now though....not what it used to be. Mascoffian started charging $5 to walk around but I think it had a minimal effect. Though, the new Hilton is very nice on Main st.
