For anybody who has recently had anything dynoed by Arizona Speed & Marine, I would like to let you know that their dyno is reading extremly wrong! We recently took a ramjet their that made 275 RWHP stock made 280 RWHP after rubbed fastburn heads, extrude honed intake, hot cam, injecters... The only difference between this motor and the last one was that this is a 350 and not a 383 (which made 443 RWHP). I highly doubt that we lost 180 horse power by loosing 33 cubic inches! I don't rember who I was talking to on here who also had a ram-jet that he had AS&M dyno but you need to take that thing some where else. I will quit ranting now but you would think that for $780 they could calibrate their darn dyno once in a decade or so!

maybe it was a mustang dyno. I hear they show less than a dynojet brand dyno.

General guide lines.

MustangWHP * 1.13 == DynojetWHP
MustangWHP * 1.31 == FlywheelHP
DynojetWHP * 1.16 == FlywheelHP

That places you at about 318rwhp. Still quite low.

Hay Phillip,

What dyno shop you going to? How about Dyno Comp, they have AWD dyno, but I don't know what is the prices are. Here is the link Dyno Comp (http://dynocomp.com/tuner.php) if you what to check them out

Did you talk to them to see what the deal is? There very well could be a perfectly good reason...

The purpose of a dyno is to get before and after comparisons for tuning and modifications, provided it's on the same dyno. It's not for bench-racing.

I partially agree with what you are saying... Number one if AS&M werent the only guys in town that are able to tune a MEFI controller that would be one thing. Also yes they did tune it fine with a before and after gain of around a 100 horse power... I still believe however, that it is a bunch of crap that a dyno isn't for bench racing! Half of the fun of getting your car dynoed is knowing the numbers!!

Hey Phillip...that was me and the 231hp RJ 350 I have in my 68 Camaro. To say I am dissappointed so far is an understatement. But in the RJ's defense, I may have a fuel supply problem so I am looking into that. It just doesnt like to run in any rpm range other than idle. It sounds sweet idling but as soon as you try to drive it...bluh! My Tundra is so much faster than my 68 which is sad if you ask me. You would think AS&M would have noticed a problem but. Im gonna stop there before I say things I dont wanna say.
Im going to BJ this weekend. I cant wait to see some of the cars there. Any local shows that you know of?

Local shows?? Non other than the pavilions.. I will be at BJ on friday with our mechanic who has setup 3 ram-jets. In my expierience i would say that sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Have you hooked up a fuel pressure guage while you drive it and to see what is happening? My other stock ram-jet did 13.30's stock so there is no reason why that one once running right shouldn't do the same.

Do you know if the pavillions will be happening this weekend? What time?

Yea, I am afraid it is a fuel problem too. I have -6 lines to and from according to the manual. I think the problem lie within my tank. I used a stock tank and baffled it with a kit from tanks.com It has a tray that sits inside the tank and an in tank pump. Supposed to be enough for LS engines and such. Walbro pump I think is the brand name. Anyway, I am going to probably end up re-doing the tank. I just cannot afford a nice SS tank from Ricks right now.

I havent installed the fuel pressure gauge yet but was planning to. That should give a good indication if it is in fact a fuel problem. I hope, anyway.

The pavillions happens every weekend that it doesn't rain. This is the biggest weekend of all except for goodguys weekend! The first tank that I had was one the we baffled our selves and worked just fine, so you really dont need a SS tank. The pressure guage will tell you right away what the story is.

ADS is right around the corner from asm (right on chandler blvd) and they are capable of tuning and have a dyno.
