I noticed in a CHP or PHR (I forget) "new parts" section a blurb about DSE's new 2nd Gen Mini-tub kit. One of the interesting features about the kit was the pre-fabbed frame relief fill plates. Where in the 1st gen kit you have to fabricate the fill plates on your own from 1/8" steel, in the 2nd gen kits the fill plates come in the kit, ready to weld.
Wondering if they might offer similar plates for the 1st gen kits going forward and perhaps offer the plates to those who have already purchased, but not yet installed 1st gen mini-tub kits.
Anyone know?

That would be nice, I'm very close to needing the fill plates. Oh, thanks for reminding me that I need to get this for the project. My mind has been all over the place with the project needing so many areas of attention.

Just call em. You can probably even talk with Stacy or Kyle. They are very helpful and will give you straight answers.
Lord knows that enough of us have bought their parts for them to be able to afford to do that for the 1st Gen kits now. :poke: :hammer:

You just reminded me of how easy it is to get overwhelmed by a project when so much of it is in need of major work.
When you look at your project take it one thing at a time. finish that then move on to the next. the next thing you know its almost done.
Thanks

if you have the ability to install the kit... cant you just make the plates?

From what I have seen the 2nd gen frame were made with a different stamp technique where most frame tolerances where very close. Thus makes a universal close out possible.
If you have ever been through a 1st gen frame you might have seen what I am talking about. Very hard and not cost worthy to make the different close outs required for the differences of 3 years and build qualities. No 2 cars are alike. just my take on it.

Vince, you are probably right. It would have been a nice benefit though to simply cut out the relief and weld in the fill plate.
See, now all of those 2nd Gen guys have something to hold over us 1st Gen guys.

I have access to a fab shop with a laser cutting machine that can scan the templates into a "program" and cut them out. I had it done awhile back and don't remember exactly what they charged, seems like it was $100.00 or so. It took they guy a little while to do it. I'm just now getting my Deep Tubs installed in my Nova and the close outs aren't that far off. I have a camaro deep tub instruction video, I can see about him doing a few sets of close outs if there are enought people interested. PM me if you'd like to discuss it. PT
