This from today's Detroit News, they don't mention Pro-Touring by name but it's pretty obvious what they're talking about. Do you think we're getting ever so closer to being mainstream?

Go here for the story..... (http://www.detnews.com/2004/autosinsider/0411/29/autos-17959.htm)

Enjoy! :)

I was just about to post the USAToday link to the same...

I'm sure they're talking about us...

A new breed of car collectors wants more. So they are giving classic muscle cars updated disk brakes, oversized radial tires, better shocks and other equipment to get the ride and comfort of today's cars.

I'd say our niche is definitely "mainstream" now. Every single magazine in the last few months have featured a Pro-Touring type vehicle. Unlike other fads however, I think this one is here to stay since we focus on safety, performance, drivability, and actually drive/race our vehicles.

Basically, the perfect hotrods!

In the latest Popular Hotrodding, Cameron Evans writes in his farewell column about the state of the hot rodding world and I think the guy literally hit the nail right on the damn head. Hopefully someone can scan and post that article...I thought it was great.

Here's an excerpt: "Some of the old school chassis companies are bewildered by thier slowing sales, yet fail to realize that Pro Street just ain't coming back and that platform-based systems need to be engineered for todays customer. Captialism proves to force these people out of business and it may get a few of the legends before it's done."

Okay. So the good news is that cars like ours are hot. Now for the bad news: To keep history from repeating itself, we'd better figure out a way to keep the build style from becoming this:

Rick Dobbertin's J2000 was the 1986 Hot Rod of the year.

I always thought Pro Street cars looked cool (still do), but never saw them as useful. Most of them looked fast, but were sloooooow. Now, if they could bust of 9s and look good, then they get my respect!

regardless of what anyone tries there will always be someone who goes to the extreme with thier cars whether is drag,pt or pro street. It cant be stopped the other thing will be people who build thier cars and let them collect dust.So be it but when you see my car on the street dont try to belittle me or brag bout how badass your car is cause all it does is sit in the garage.

Who says we are ever finished??? I seen Dobbertons previous car, the supercharger twin turbo 65 nova at the Car craft Street machine nationals east 83. The thing was a show piece didn't even whine like a blower should. Also the guy was greeted like a lost child at the awards which he won everything. To me the guy is just a arogent ass. His new adventure is the orbiter a milk tanker turned amphibious truck. It has been on one of the cable shows.

That's a pretty cool article! Someone (possibly myself if I get time) should email them and let them know there is a name for these cars! G-Machines! Or the genre, Pro-Touring.
